Prayer Needs
|
We returned to Paraguay on January 20, 2009. Praise the Lord that we were able to find an apartment in a safe neighborhood. We had hoped to live near Faith's school like before but the rent there has gone up considerably!
Prayer is God granting our heart’s deisire to have communion with Him. We cherish your prayers for the following needs here on the field:
Please help us pray for:
1) Praise the Lord that we are now in Paraguay! We want to thank each one of our supporters for making this possible!
2) Pray for our health and safety. Colleen and Faith seemed to catch every bug when we arrived but are doing better.
3) The By-laws for the Methodist Church in Paraguay were re-written. Instead of a president leading the church in Paraguay, there is now a Bishop. Pastor Pablo Mora was elected in General Conference and was ordained as Bishop on May 15, 2009!
4) Pray for us as we begin to use ALPHA, a basic Christianity DVD course, to evangelize and also disciple new Christians in Paraguay. We are also trained to teach Disciple Bible Study.
5) Pray for the church of Paraguay as they figure out ways to function without as much US funding due to the world ecenomy. This is the first year that pastors will be provided for entirely by their local church.
6) Colleen is helping with the new -believers Bible Study for women on Saturdays. pray for this time and the women.
7) Praise the Lord that Daniel has finished college. He graduated from Greenville College in May 2009. Pray for him as he starts work for AT&T. Pray for Elizabeth as she starts her junior year of college.
8) Pray for Faith as she starts her junior year in high school at Asuncion Christian Academy. She is slowly making new friends. Pray for her adjustment.
9) Colleen looks forward to using the training she received in how to teach English as a foreign language in Paraguay.
10) Pray for the Methodist youth. They are the leaders of today in the Paraguayan Methodist Church since the Paraguayan population is 70% under the age 20. Pray for the programs since the Methodist youth divided by ages in 2006 into 12-16 year olds called "Adolescentes" and those above 17 years called "Jovenes". We do not want anyone left out.
11) Pray for the political situation in Paraguay. A new president took office last August and is making radical changes which may or may not hinder the Gospel.
12) Pray for the economy in the US.
13) Pray for more new missionaries here. Our Mobile Medical clinic, that normally sees thousands of people yearly, sharing Christ, prayer and medical expertise, will not be able to visit any churches or remote areas since we are without a doctor and optician. Our Bible Institute needs more teachers. We also need more pastors to mentor the new, young pastors here.
