What does it take for a homeless person to rejoin society? ![]() A homeless person taken in by the Shelter usually has little to "start with." He, or she, must be provided with clothing, personal items,a place to stay, transportation, meals, etc.,...and only THEN can the person truly seek regular employment. In today's world, landlords want "first, last, and security" before you move in. Then there are utility deposits and bills, telephone deposits and bills, transportation expenses, personal expenses, insurance, groceries to buy, clothing to acquire, etc. By the time you add it all up, you are looking at $2500 - $3000 at a minimum in goods, services and cash requirements, regardless of what part of America you may be located in. MOST of today's so-called "homeless shelters" DO NOT provide comprehensive services that cover the above needs. Most "shelters" offer stays of only a few days at best, overnight at worst...certainly not enough time for the homeless person to accomplish anything positive. EZEKIEL HOUSE is a "full service program," and the reason for that is very simple: We understand that "change doesn't come overnight," and long-term assistance is vitally necessary if a change is going to take place in a homeless person's life at all! If one is not willing to offer meaningful assistance, there is no point in offering at all. Ezekiel House, both the mens' and womens' programs, now have a maximum capacity of serving up to 30 persons in residence at any given time. And yes, that means we have to have an annual budget pushing $100,000 - - and the only reason we can get by on THAT is because all of our staff are volunteers. Do we run short? Yes...and we would greatly appreciate your contribution!! If you'd like to help those who sincerely wish to change their lives, please, give us a hand! ![]() |
