![]() Opinions and Other Words of Wisdom
![]() I guess that is why God has brought me to Gold Country. You see the Gold Miner is motivated by his dreams. A dream of discovery and of wealth. The pure delight of prospecting is finding the joy and blessings of a shinning nugget. With awe and splendor, visions of his mansion on Nob Hill. But God has brought me to Gold Country, and the Gold I find is in His Word. A nugget here and a nugget there of God’s Word, finding a mountain of new treasures. As the Golden treasures of God’s word grows, I can see clearly that mansion in the sky. Each discovery moves me onward in the work of finding the nugget in the lost souls. The Golden Streets of heaven are rejoicing with prospectors from earth singing a new song. Where, from the hill of Calvary, Christ proclaimed victory so that all would become prospectors in His Kingdom. Then someday we will live with Him in a mansion in the sky and walk the streets of Gold forevermore. We’ll become prospectors in discovering God’s great glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. David Bennett – 2004 HELLO It is interesting to find in the study that Pastor Les asked me to undertake the demographics study of Amador County. I call it the “Community Discovery And Profile Project.” So far it seems that only about 20% of the people living in the Jackson, Sutter Creek, Pine Grove, Pioneer and Up-Country Communities are involved in church. I don't have all the final counts from the latest census or the totals from the School District as to the number of students, but it appears that less than 5% of the kids living in our area are involved in church. We will know more when the study is completed. Needless to say, our churches have a huge mission field right here within our own communities. OPINIONS DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE AN OPINION? Everyone has an opinion about what is wrong with the world, with the church, politics, schools, religion or any other that one wants to name. As Christians we always seem to be attacking the issue rather than the problem. We can point the finger at all those people that are destroying what we, as Christians, hold dear. We can acknowledge the wrongs that are growing right and left as morality and Christian values disappear before our eyes. We can have an opinion about the state of the world and every event that is changing the way we see God’s plan, but the one thing that seems to always be overlooked is: are we willing to change what God has commanded for us to do? Churches are disappearing and congregations are slipping away to a world of relativism and indifference to what God has called us to do. We have an opinion on how to change the world, but no opinion about how to change the attitude of most Christians and the Church. In my opinion the real battle is in the church to bring the message that God has ordained us to do and that is to reach the lost for Christ. The church needs to realize that it is a battle between “Good and Evil” and must get out of its glass cookie jar, where it has placed itself as a confined element looking out on a angry, hungry world filled with an agenda of self-gratification and moral decay. In my opinion we can talk about sin and the world conditions, but we don’t do the important job of changing our attitude about how to fix the problems of our communities and the world around us by bringing people to the Lord. Until we decide, as the “Body of Christ,” to reach the hearts and souls of people we will have to declare that we are losing the battle and have only ourselves to blame for ineffectual unity of purpose. The trouble is that the "A-TEAM" is inside the cookie jar, and not being part of the "Team God." We are not winning, we are losing. The bottom line is, we gave up the fight. It's not that Satan’s team is better, it’s the fact that our team is lacking in team spirit and getting out and fighting back at Satan's deceptive team. You see, Satan has been conducting this battle for a long time. He battles in little steps and side steps that denigrates our resolve, through evolutionary changes in cultures, morality, ethics and beliefs. He has created his own environment. That environment is deception and mutation in a hostile world in rebellion to Christ and all who find protection within the cookie jar of their faith. I know this seems harsh and may sound unjustified, but I only ask you to open the jar and look out and see what has happened. Get involved by looking at the field and getting in the battle. You will find Satan entrenched in every corner of society. They work with you, play alongside you and even go to church with you. We are dealing with relativism and pluralism at every turn. We rub shoulders with new philosophies and cultures of a new world order. In my opinion it is the “Body of Christ” that is not united in the battle for Christ that is losing to the other side. Just my opinion, David Bennett ![]()
