My Dream's Were Not God's Will
![]() It was WONDERFUL...I was getting so much experience and learning alot about my vocal abilities. The people that I met were so nice and taught me so much. I will never forget any of them!!! I was very excited....here I was, a nobody, being asked to perform with some very talented musicians who had way more experience than I. I mean, some of them were formerly in a famous rock group, and others had been musicians for famous country performers or had recorded with famous singers. To top that off, I got to be part of the opening acts at a .38 Special concert and a Paul Rodgers(formerly with Bad Company) concert...the best was when I was the solo act opening up for country music's Mercury recording star Eric Heatherly( remade "Counting Flowers on the Wall"). Just when I thought MY visions and dreams were coming true, Todd's employer called him back to SC. Of course, I had to follow. Once returning home to SC I got involved in church and rededicated my life to the Lord. Prior to that, I had always wanted my OWN band...things never worked out. Well, once my life was being lived for the Lord I FINALLY got the phone call(summer of 2001)....my cousin's band needed a lead singer. YIPPEE.....I finally had my OWN band!!! Well, we practiced for a couple of months and had our first gig...my first gig turned into my last gig. The Lord had been talking to me for a while, telling me that that was not the way I was suppose to go....I could not take the burden any more. I QUIT!! Discouraged, I stopped singing. The desire that I had always had (since I was a small child) was gone. I think I did sing 2 or 3 times over that next year, but basically stopped cold-turkey. Well, in the summer of 2002 I was playing softball and got hit DEAD IN THE THROAT...I just KNEW my larynx had collapsed (thank God yet AGAIN for his blessings). After a few days, my voice seemed to be fine. I wondered if it was a sign letting me know that God gave me a gift to use for his glory and he could take it away in the blink of an eye. I was still struggling with God's call on my life. In Sept. 2003 I attended a Pentecostal Church District Conference and got more proof. I had been praying for a sign just letting me know what my calling was. The speaker that night was a prophetess and I prayed for a sign from her...it never came...from HER, that is. A man, who is a preacher and prophet, came up to me a laid hands on me praying. A bit of silence came over him and he then gave me this message: "God wants me to tell you that your song is back." Well, I knew from that moment on what my calling was. Since then I have had a couple more people of God give me messages similar to that(because it has taken me a while to truly get jump-started on my mission for God). I can honestly say that although I know what I am to do, I am very nervous...but I know that the Lord is there to help me out. ![]() |
