The Heavenly Highway
|
“And an highway will be there, and a way and it shall be called The way of holiness” Isa. 35:8
Men have made many highways through out the world; Thoroughfares of Rome, the magnificent highways of modern Europe, and the tremendous turnpikes and freeways of America. God has surpassed them all so let us now talk about the heavenly highway God has prepared for His people…….You and me, those who have accepted Him into their hearts and lives. “It shall be called the way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it” Isa. 35:8
You know as we travel through life we are often confronted with the choice between two ways—a “high way “ or a low way” Sad to say but many people will travel the low way of self seeking and sensuality, which leads to destruction.
The “highway” is God’s way of truth and righteousness and purity, because of God’s love.
The “hallowed highway” shall be called the way of holiness. Those who totally commit their will to God are enabled by the Holy Spirit to travel the heavenly highway which will lead to eternal life with the Lord.
“No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon…….Isa. 35:9.
We live in a dangerous world. There is thefts, drug abuse, rape and murder and many homes are invaded by hatred, strife, separation, and divorce.
The Devil is going about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he can devour (1 Peter 5:8) John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Christ is more than a match for the devil and we are conquerors through Him.
Jesus Christ is the Way, we can follow Him and be safe. We are to pray, and read God’s promises in the Bible, working, trusting, and traveling on God’s heavenly highway. “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.” (Ps. 91:15). “And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads…….” (Isa 35:10).
This is the Home Way…….Every road is good if it leads us home. No matter how rough, steep or winding it may be. God’s royal highway will take the Christian to his heavenly home.
We will all have mountains of trials to climb and valleys of sorrow to descend and we may grow tired and weary but the trials of the road will seem insignificant at our journey’s end. The apostle Paul wrote, for I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (Amplified Bible) version is "(But what of that?) For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and "for us, and "conferred on us!"(Rom. 8; 18)
There is a happy way for us all if we choose to take the “highway” “They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee way.” (Isa. 35:10)
Sometimes we search for happiness in other ways such as sinful pleasures and selfish possessions; but the happiness is short lived and very disappointing.
We can find true happiness only when we find God. We cannot enjoy ourselves in the highest sense unless we enjoy God. He is our source of real and lasting happiness.
When we accept Christ as Saviour and Lord, we than begin to travel the heavenly highway, which is God’s happy way to life eternal. “Oh there is so much joy and gladness with Christ and sorrow and sighing shall flee away”. ( Isa. 35:10)
I have a dear Christian Sister whom I met through my web site who sent to me a long time ago a poem she wrote as she traveled the “highway” in a truck with her husband. Her name is Mary and I would like to share with you the poem.
We're trucking on down the highway and we're really making time. Yes, we're trucking down this highway with the Lord always on our mind. Were going to carry His Holy gospel, we’ll carry it with us where ever we go. In, our hearts, our souls, and our minds. We'll wear it so everyone we meet will know.
God never said it would be easy to tell others about the love of Jesus Christ. But He gave me something that I could use and carry with me the rest of my life.
He gave me the love of my Jesus and His precious blood will always cover me. Yes, He gave me a brand new life, a chance to die with Him on Calvary.
This gives me so much courage and pride to hold my heart and head so high. To be able to tell others about His love and caress them in His love when they cry.
The tears you see are full of His joy to know that my Jesus loves me so. To know that He will never leave me no matter where it is my feet will go.

What road will you choose? The “highway” or the “low way”?
If you have not invited Jesus to come into your heart and life would you do that now? All you have to do is admit that you are a sinner and that you are sorry and if you mean it from your heart Jesus will forgive you and help you to travel along the “highway” that will lead you to life everlasting…Joy and happiness.
Just repeat this prayer: Dear Jesus I am a sinner and I am so sorry for what I have done. I believe that you died and rose again just for me. I now invite you to come into my heart and make me what You want me to be.Thank you Jesus for forgiving me and giving me new life. Amen.
Now you will travel the “highway” there may be some mountains to climb and some rough turns in the road but you will have the Lord to help you through it all. Congratulations if you have prayed that prayer and welcome to the family of God.
