HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE - THE FINAL DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA'S FAMILIES!

After considering petitions to recognize "same-sex" marriage in the State of Vermont, that State‘s Supreme Court set in motion the events that yielded homosexual “civil unions.” (72) Yet even now, some States have NOT enacted legislation to define marriage as between a man and a woman to protect the institution of marriage and families - Vermont is was one such State.(29) If one State recognizes "same-sex" marriage, there is the possibility that all States may eventually be forced to do so.
Certainly, NOW is the time for ALL States to officially define marriage as between one man and one woman under the authority of the Federal "Defense of Marriage Act." in order to prevent this. Many fear the consequences for the American family and thus the Nation from the threat of a redefinition of marriage to include "same-sex" relationships would be devastating. In order to understand how this would be so, we must first look at the nature of the institution of "marriage" and its foundations.
What is "Marriage"?
Noah Webster, in his 1828 "American Dictionary of The English Language, " defines Marriage thus: "The act of uniting a man and woman for life; wedlock; the legal union of a man and a woman for life. Marriage is a contract both civil and religious, by which the parties engage to live together in mutual affection and fidelity, till death shall separate them. Marriage was instituted by God Himself for the purpose of preventing the promiscuous intercourse of the sexes, for promoting domestic felicity, and for securing the maintenance and education of children." (30)
The Southern Baptist Convention, in its original "Statement on the Family" in 1998, states, "...Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His Church, and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel for sexual expression according to Biblical standards and the means for procreation for the human race. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The mariage relationship models the way God relates to His people. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the Church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the Church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from The Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on Biblical Truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents." (67)What does The Holy Bible say on this matter?
We in America today seem to be loosing sight of God's plan for marriage - which always has been, is and will always be - "one man and one woman together in lifelong covenantal commitment." (31) Consider:

GENESIS 2:24:
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." (1)
MARK 10:6-9:
"But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." (1)
ISAIAH 5:20:
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter." (1)
GALATIANS 6:7:
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (1)
ACTS 5:29:
"We ought to obey God rather than men." (1)
What further can America's Founding Fathers tell us?

George Washington, in his 1796 Farewell Speech, warned, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports…Can it be that Providence has not connected the permanent felicity (happiness) of a Nation with its virtues?" (3,5,6)
James Wilson, a signer of the U.S. Constitution and an original Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, explained, "Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is Divine…" (3,46)
George Mason, "Father of the U.S. Bill of Rights," observed , "…As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes and effects, Providence punishes national sins by national calamities." (3,8,46)
John Jay, America's first Chief Justice, warns: "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." (3)There are in America voices today sounding the warning:
Ben Irwin, in "The Bible and Homosexuality - Confronting the Challenge to Scriptural Authority," warns: "The outcome of this debate could radically alter popular views of the authority of Scripture, the family unit, and sexual morality. Abandoning principles of human sexuality as given by God in Genesis and taught by the Church for the past 2,000 years would have serious implications for societal stability...The pro-homosexual claim that Biblical teaching 'is subject to the review of our own conscience as it stands before God,' is a humanistic elevation of man over God and His Word. It makes a false god of man's fallen conscience and allows no room for any absolute authority greather than ourselves...Historically, Judeo-Christian teaching has provided the basis for our understanding of the family unit, by establishing heterosexual marriage (ie, one man and one woman together in lifelong covenantal commitment) as the foundational element of the family and, thus, of society...One of the major grounds of contention in this debate is the ecclesiastical blessings of same-sex unions...If the Church allows the integrity of marriage to be compromised and fall by the wayside, with it will collapse the integrity of the family as the cornerstone of human civilization." (31) 
The Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, in the January/February, 1998 issue of "Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny," states, "History tells us that any nation which allows homosexuality to be accepted as natural will fall. Apparently, Americans have not learned from history, or are so blinded by the darkness (sin) within themselves, that history is no longer a lesson. I believe that there is a cause and effect for everything in life. If we were to seek first the Kingdom of God and His right way, all things would be added to us. With God, we can overcome anything in life, homosexuality included. But if we accept evil as Good, we will only destroy ourselves. Will this nation wake up in time to prevent this destruction?" (57)
The Reverend Reggie White, recalling his speech to the Wisconsin State Assembly in March of 1998, in "Fighting The Good Fight: America's 'Minister Of Defense' Stands Firm On What It Takes To Win GOD's Way" states, "God's rules on homosexuality are clear. He declared in Leviticus 20:13: 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.' The New Testament confirms this rule in several passages. Islam and orthodox Judaism also reject homosexuality. Some defenders of homosexual rights have pointed out that Jesus didn't comment directly on homosexuality. That's true. But He didn't need to. God had laid down clear rules on the subject that were already known to everyone in Jesus' audience. When God lays down the rules once, He doesn't have to keep repeating them...homosexual intercourse is a choice. It's just as much a choice as fornication, a decision by an unmarried heterosexual couple to have sex. Both are sins. The difference is, marriage can sanctify a heterosexual union, but homosexual union is always offensive to God. With homosexuality as with all other sins, it's important for us to remember to love the sinner while rejecting the sin. But God's rules are clear." (69) What conclusions can be drawn?
Lyndon Baines Johnson, the 36th President of the United States of America, admonished his fellow Americans in the troubled era of the 1960's: "If we fail now...we will have forgotten that democracy rests on Faith(*)...Come now, let us reason together." ISAIAH 1:18-21:
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith The LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of The LORD hath spoken it." (1)
EPHESIANS 5:1-6:
"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrafice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh Saints;
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.
Let no man decieve you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience." (1)
EZEKIEL 18:20-23:
"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniequity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all My statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith The LORD GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?" (1)
ROMANS 6:16&23:
"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (1)

The end of the matter:
Shall America continue to proclaim, IN GOD WE TRUST," but mock His Laws? Who then is sinful man to redefine the Holy Sacrament of Marriage - a creation of and instituted by God Almighty Himself? Shall we not forfeit the Blessings of Providence, while calling down Divine Judgement upon our Nation? Let us not decieve ourselves: the answer to America will be the same as to that of Sodom and Gomorrah!With All Due Respect,
