Bro. John: Saved 04 Feb 1983. I was raised in a Luthern church were it was a do as I do and not as I say church. I got tired and hurngry for something real in my life. When I was 16 my mom and dad went through a bad divorce my dad was a drunk and I had more than the usual peer pressure and no one to share it with. So I got into my dad's vodka and then sat on my bed considering to blow my head off with a .22 magnum pistol. About mid-night I had a calm come over me and a peace that I had never felt in my life and down in the deepest reaches of my soul I heard a voice telling me that I didn't want to do it and he had better plans for me in the future. I didn't receive Christ this night because I didn't know how even though it was so simple. In December of 82 I went with my cousin and best friend to their church to hear them practice for their Christmas play. They forgot to tell me I was going to have to listen to their preacher first. Boy!!!!! It was the first time I really heard the gospel preached and did my soul ever soak it up. I still didn't get saved. In Feburary they invited me to their church for a revival and on the next to the last night I received the Lord as my Saviour. I ran from preaching for three years and then accepted the call in June of 86. I have been preaching ever since and concentrating reaching our young people.
