"Emo's" Testimony
In Isa 65:16-17 it says: That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes. For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. In 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. [KJV]
It is human nature, to bring things from the past and use it against others. The same is true vice versus. However, if you use it to boast in Christ Jesus then it can no longer be used against you. It should only be used to glorify the name of the Lord and to boast of the wonderful changes HE has brought in your life.
I want you all to know that my life was no different from anyone at first. My sins were just as bad as that of a man who committed murder. I was raised in a home where my mother was a believer and my father was not. I accepted the Lord in my heart at the age of six and departed from HIS ways at the age of thirteen. However, (Glory be to God!) like the prodigal son I returned at the age of twenty-five. In between that time frame, I was an adulterer, wife beater, alcoholic, pot smoker, slanderer, thief, cheater, and I even hindered people from coming to the Lord. I would make fun of them if they would go to church. This went on for years and still the Lord would put people in my path. I would attend once or twice with them; in some cases I made excuses as to why I could not go. The ironic part is, that during my hardest times ..when I would be in jail sitting, I would be hoping to get out. I would then cry out to the Lord “in prayer”asking for HIS help. HE would hear my cry and help me. (This may be due to the fact that my mother continues to pray for me.) After HE would help me, I chose to stay away from the Lord. During those days in which I was still in the world I was married and had a daughter. Needless to say my marriage was a wreck and it ended in divorce. I am not happy with that situation...but that is what led to it, because of being in sin.
I do not know what your situation may be. I hope that you are not sitting in your home reading this website hungry and alone. I have been through those days and I too know how horrible it feels to be bored out of your mind trying to do something that seems worth while, to be sick and have no one to care for you, to have a girlfriend on the side going, to sit in a jail cell and wonder how much longer you will be there, to be all alone crying yourself to sleep, to wonder if God does really see you in all your pain, to get drunk and think you had a great time (only to spend it hugging the toilet bowl like it was your best friend), to lie to people you say you care for habitually never stopping and to feel hopeless. Most of all I know what it is like not to have Jesus Christ in your heart. I want to tell you that you don't need become some member of a church; you don't have to do all kinds of crazy things to get God to like you. All you have to do is ask him in your heart. Just find a corner in the confines of your own place and close your eyes and ask. It is as simple as saying:
"Lord, I need your help; I know that I can do nothing with out you in my life. Please forgive me of all of my sins that I have committed, seen and unseen, spoken and unspoken. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for me, your only son died for me...so that I could be saved. I ask you to live in me and baptize me with the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name I pray AMEN."
The Lord knows your heart, you don't have to use every single word I used in this model prayer...but if you open your heart to the Lord, you will know what you need to say to Him. If you have asked Him in into your heart for the first time, then I suggest that you would find a church or a Christian and share this experience with them. I encourage you to get a Bible and search the scriptures daily, allows the Holy Spirit to minister into your life.
On October 21, 2001, I was given a wonderful helpmate who became my wife. Since then we now have a wonderful daughter who was born 22nd of March in 2003 and another daughter on 25th February of 2004. I am not going to sit here and tell you that I have not had my share of battles with the enemy. Nor, tell you that once you get saved life is a bed of roses. I will tell you this, it is only temporary. These troubles, heartaches, and discouraging times are only temporary; for those who have chosen to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Do not get discouraged, even when people tell you that God cannot use you. If God can use Saul of Tarsus, the very same Saul that approved of the stoning of Stephen, the very same one that was blinded (by God) and later was used by HIM. I want you to know that the Bible has many people, who did far more disgusting and horrible things than what you may feel you have done. Yet, HE still was able to use them for HIS Glory. HE IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDINGLY AND ABUNDANTLY THEN...God can use you too.
Eph 3:20 Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
No matter how horrible you think you are. No matter what sin you think that is unforgivable...God can forgive you!!! Do not go another day thinking that God does not love you.
In John 3:15-18: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [KJV]
