HISTORICALLY KNOWN...

For over 58 years, since the withdrawal from the Moscow Patriarchate, this historic body continues as The Standing Episcopal Conference of Orthodox Bishops...a BLESSED FELLOWSHIP of member Hierarchs and Jurisdictions of the Valid Apostolic Succession.

The SEC has its canonical standing from the Holy Synod of the American Holy Orthodox Catholic Apostolic Eastern Church (now, the Orthodox Church of America), the Holy Synod of the True Canonical American Orthodox Church established by the Moscow Patriarchate in 1921, and is a historical part of the Ukrainain Autocephalous Orthodox Church in America.

Likewise...NEW YORK, NEW WORLD...NEW FAITH

New York and the City of New York have played an important role in the establishment of nearly every Orthodox jurisdiction in America.

By reading various articles, as published in The New York Times, you will see the canonical connection of our founding Hiearchs and how they worked together for the "unity of Faith" regardless of jurisdiction.

The definitive purpose for the establishment of the SEC is to adhere to the prayer of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, that ...all may be ONE as Me and My Father are ONE!" Our members truly are the Orthodox Church of America!

May Almighty God grant unto our member God-loving Hierarchs, Clergy and Jurisdictions many, many years...

On July 23, 2004 Metropolitan +ALEXI (Nizza), President of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in the USA, wrote to Archpriest Michael of the Standing Episcopal Conference of Orthodox Bishops, saying: "I knew His Beatitude of Sacred Memory Metropolitan Peter Zhurawetzky in fact I was ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop Macarios Salimenos who was consecrated to the priesthood by Metropolitan Joachim Souris once a member of your Holy Synod in the days of the presidency of His Beatitude Joseph Klymowycz and I know that in fact your Holy Synod is the True Canonical American Orthodox Church established by the Moscow Patriarchate established in the 1920's and that the 'OCA' is not."

29 November 1937 - In this colourful acount of the cathedral's anniversary, we see the participation of Archbishop +CHRISTOPHER (Contogeorge) of Lowell, Mass. and Bishop +JOSEPH (Klymowycz) of Springfield, who consecrated Bishop +PETER (Zhurawetzky) in 1950, and, in 1951 became the first Moderator of the Standing Episcopal Conference of Orthodox Bishops.
