Paeans Prologue
" On the mountain, I clearly saw God's Commandments engraved on stone. I heard great movements of the forces of nature and great bolts of lightning came forth from clouds of power and might."
" On the mountain, I clearly saw God's Commandments engraved on stone. I heard great movements of the forces of nature and great bolts of lightning came forth from clouds of power and might."
In the silence of the night, a prayer I offered to God. I prayed and asked God to give me wisdom and understanding to know and discern a plan for my life. It is in the writings of David and Solomon that I found a wondrous peace within my heart and soul. In the books of Psalms and Proverbs I found enjoyment. It was in this journey when I began to write and record my thoughts of God's love abiding in my heart. It is His voice that echoed forth and said, "My daughter, Valerie, you are not David, nor are you Solomon, yet I hear your petition." At that moment, I heard the sound of Paeans in my ear. (Psalms or hymns of praise). I so embraced this sound in my heart. Each day I held the vision of Paeans close within. It was in the Lord's love that I chose to title God's writings as Paeans. I found myself meditating on the Lord in search of words to express my love for His presence in my life. When I was in His presence, the world took on a different perspective and my eyes did clearly see. I saw wondrous beauty and heard the sounds of travailing love as I listened to His call. Each day that was set before me, there appeared a great sign of His love.
Taking hold of His presence in my life, allowed me to see and record all that was set before me. I found myself surrounded by the greatness of His creation. Each day, I took time to see and feel as never before. In the abounding love of His presence, I saw beautiful peace doves resting quietly close to each other. Beautiful rays of sunshine overshadowed the gray clouds that hovered over my life. I also saw a lone seagull soaring to unknown heights above the atmospheric sky. Then in the still of the night, I saw a mountain of great stature and height. On the mountain, I clearly saw God's Commandments engraved on stone. I heard great movements of the forces of nature and great bolts of lightning came forth from clouds of power and might. In the realm of His presence, I saw seasons changing one to another. I saw white winter snowflakes gently falling and resting so softly on the ground. There were falling leaves that danced, twirled and spiraled downward resting to blanket the earth. My senses were opened to the Fruits of His Spirit. I saw goodness, kindness and great joy. They became as real to me as the visions of all God's creation. He opened my eyes so that I could see all that is good and holy in His sight.
It was in the presence of God that I chose to record His thoughts and set my pen in writing. I set before Him today this book of Paeans. I dedicate this book to You, Oh Lord, in earnest love and devotion. I wish for the entire world to know You are alive and well. You are ever present in Thy holy creation. You are ever present in the stillness of my nights. In my days, I shall search Thee out, Oh Lord. Oh, guardian of my soul, my thoughts, words and deeds I give all to Thee. This book of Paeans, I dedicate to Thee. All glory and honor is yours, Lord, God almighty...
