THE MYTH OF "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE" UNMASKED!
|
21 April, 1999, A.D.
I. INTRODUCTION
The suppression of Biblical Christian values has relentlessly pursued its objective in America since the 1962-63 U.S. Supreme Court rulings that rejected Divine Law in our public schools (8). For example: consider the removal of Bible reading, Prayer and the posting of The Ten Commandments - all having been removed from American public schools in the last 35 years because our Supreme Court has declared them "unconstitutional" in the public school setting (2,3,8). Consider also the disasterous results of rejecting God's Word by our institutions, society and government since 1962: astronomical increases in teenage pregnancies, abortion, illegitimate births, sexually-transmitted diseases in adolescents, violent crime and divorce - to name only a few (8).
Until the early 1960's, American society and its institutions rested firmly upon The Holy Bible's teachings (14). The New American Doctrine of rejecting Divine Law based on The Holy Bible by the U.S. Supreme Court since 1962-63 is referred to as "The Separation Of Church And State" (3,8,53). The War upon traditional Judeo-Christian values in America continues unabated today; one of the primary weapons to alter the nature of American society today is the use of this New American Doctrine - "Separation Of Church And State."
Consider, for example, a recent report in the Bennington Banner of Bennington, Vermont on 3/31/99 entitled, (Vermont State) "Senate Takes Fresh Look At Opening Sessions With Prayer." This issue came to light after an invited Minister, upon delivering his Bible reading and Prayer, then delivered a Sermon opposing homosexuality and abortion to the Vermont State Senate. It is hardly surprising to note that some such honorable State Senators were reportedly made "uncomfortable" in the presence of God's Word. Nor was it surprising to note one such honorable State Senator cited as a reason to halt the American tradition of Religious Services in government legislative bodies in his State the New American Doctrine of "Separation Of Church And State." (49)
One hears of this supposedly Constitutionally-mandated Doctrine so often - "Separation Of Church And State" - that any reasonable person would assume that it was an integral part of the U.S. Constitution and the thinking of America's Founding Fathers. Yet, the phrase "Separation of Church and State" appears in NO American Founding document, NOR in any private or public pronouncements in America's Founding period! It is NOT in the Declaration of Independence. It is NOT in the U.S. Constitution. It is NOT in the U.S. Bill Of Rights. It was NOT uttered by any Founding Father in the Founding period of America. Yes, that is correct: NOWHERE - atleast not in America's Founding (53)! However, the doctrine of "Separation of Church and State" is part of the founding of the communist United Soviet Socialist Republics (3,60)! Did you know:
CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLICS OF 1922 (3,8, 60):
ARTICLE 124: "In order to ensure to citizens freedom of conscience, the churh in the U.S.S.R. is separated from the State, and the school from the church."(3,8)
ARTICLE 142: "Breach of laws governing the separation of church from state and of education from the church: Any breach of the laws governing the separation of the church from the state and of education from the church is punishable by corrective labor for a maximum term of one year or a fine of 50 rubles."(60)

ISAIAH 10:1:
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed. (1)

This phrase of Thomas Jefferson's has been taken out of context by a late 20th Century U.S. Supreme Court to institute a New Doctrine totally alien to the Founding Fathers. During the writing of the U.S. Constitution, Thomas Jefferson was in France as our Nation's Ambassador and had no direct imput into the writing of the Federal Constitution! This quote was in fact taken from a private letter Thomas Jeffeson wrote in 1801 to a Church Body to assure them that Freedom of Religion would never be infringed upon by the U.S. Federal Government! (46) Arbitrarily, and without past legal precident, a new American Doctrine was suddenly invented in the 1940's by the U.S. Supreme Court by disregarding all previous Constitutional Doctrine, Court decisions, thoughts of the Founders and the intent of Jefferson's letter itself (8).
The original intent of the Founding Fathers rests in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which proclaims that no federal denomination (ie - a National Church) would ever be established. Yet today, a redefined First Amendment is used to suppress and exclude Biblical principles and activities from America's public institutions and forums! David Barton, in "America's Godly Heritage," explains: "No longer would the First Amendment simply prohibit the establishment of a federal denomination; it now would prohibit religious activities in public settings." (46)
Let us examine the evidence itself:
THE FIRST AMENDMENT OF THE U.S. FEDERAL CONSTITUTION IN "THE BILL OF RIGHTS" (3,8,42,43,46,52):
"Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

THE PRIVATE LETTER OF THOMAS JEFFERSON TO THE DANBURY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN 1801 SPEAKS FOR ITSELF (3,8,53):
"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God; that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship; that the legislative powers of the government reach actions only, and not opinions, - I contemplate with sovereign reference that act of the whole American people which delcared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore man to all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties."+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
ROMANS 8:33-34:
Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, ye rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. (1)

THE U.S. SUPREME COURT, IN A SUDDEN DEPARTURE FROM THE PAST, DECLARED ARBITRARILY IN 1947 (46):
"The First Amendment has erected a 'wall of separation between church and state.' That wall must be kept high and impregnable." See what this Court did: they substituted the words of the First Amendment itself on Freedom of Religion that Jefferson quoted in his 1801 letter with the following 8 words of his personal comment, "thus building a wall of separation between Church and State." Further, by taking these 8 words out of context, and ignoring the entire letter written by Jefferson in 1801, this Court has suppressed the original intent of said letter and arbitrarily proclaimed a new meaning to the First Amendment that is exactly opposite to what Jefferson wrote in his letter! This reinvented First Amendment is contrary to the intent of The Founding Fathers themselves, American history & tradition and past U.S. Supreme Court rulings!

II. ORIGINAL INTENT: PAST LEGAL DECISIONS OF AMERICAN COURTS CONTRADICT TODAY'S NEW DOCTRINE:
THE MARYLAND STATE SUPREME COURT, 1799 (46):

III. MORE FROM THOMAS JEFFERSON IN HIS OWN WORDS:
THOMAS JEFFERSON DECLARED IN 1803 (3):
My views...are the result of a life of inquiry and reflection, and very different from the anti-Christian system imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions. To the corruptions of Christianity I am, inded, opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus Himself. I am a Christian in the only sense in which He wished any one to be; sincerely attached to His doctrines in preference to all others...

And thou shalt love The LORD thy GOD with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first Commandment.
And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other Commandment greater than these. (1)

THOMAS JEFFERSON FURTHER EXPLAINS HIS CONVICTIONS (3,46):

MATTHEW 5: 21-48:
Ye have heart that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgement:
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be indanger of hell fire...
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart...
Ye have heart that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you...
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in Heaven...
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect. (1)

THOMAS JEFFERSON ON THE VALUE OF CHRISTIANITY (3):
A more beautiful or precious morsel of ethics I have never seen; it is a document in proof that I am a real Christian; that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus. I have always said, I always will say, that the studious perusal of The Sacred Volume will make better citizens, better fathers, and better husbands:1. The doctrines of Jesus are simple and tend to the happiness of man.
2. There is only one God, and He is all perfect.
3. There is a future state of rewards and punishments.
4. To love God with all the heart and thy neighbor as thyself is the sum of all.
These are the great points on which to reform the Religion of the Jews.

IV. THE PILGRIM'S COVENANT WITH GOD:
THE MAYFLOWER COMPACT, 1620 (2,3,8,14,51):

VII. THE "FATHER OF OUR COUNTRY" SOUGHT GOD AS HIS STRENGTH:
GEORGE WASHINGTON, FROM HIS PERSONAL PRAYER BOOK, ENTRY FOR A TUESDAY EVENING (3,5):
Most gracious God and Heavenly Father, we cannot cease, but must cry unto Thee for mercy, because my sins cry against me for justice...That I may know my sins are forgiven by His death and passion. Embrace me in the arms of Thy mercy; vouchsafe to receive me unto the bosom of Thy love, shadow me with Thy winds, that I may safely rest under Thy protection this night;And so into Thy hands I commend myself, both soul and body, in the Name of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, beseeching Thee, when this life shall end, I may take my everlasting rest with Thee in Thy Heavenly Kingdom. Bless all in authority over us, be merciful to all those afflicted with Thy Cross or calamity, bless all my friends, forgive my enemies and accept my thanksgiving this evening for all the mercies and favors afforded me;
Hear and graciously answer these my requests, and whatever else Thou see'st needful grant us, for the sake of Jesus Christ in whose blessed Name and Words I continue to pray, Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name...

VIII. AMERICAN GOVERNMENT PRAISED GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT:
THE CONTINENTAL CONGRESS, SIGNED BY HENRY LAURENS, ISSUED THE FIRST NATIONAL PROCLAMATION OF THANKSGIVING IN 1777 - AFTER THE AMERICAN VICTORY AT SARATOGA, NEW YORK (3,50):
Forasmuch as it is the indispensable duty of all men to adore the superintending Providence of Almighty God; to acknowledge with gratitude their obligation to Him for benefits received and to implore such further blessing as they stand in need of; and it having pleased Him in His abundant mercy not only to continue to us the innumerable bounties of His common Providence...to smile upon us as in the prosecution of a just and necessary war for the defense and establishment of our unalienable rights and liberties...It is therefore recommended to the legislative or executive powers of these United States, to set apart Thursday, the eighteenth day of December next, for the solemn thanksgiving and praise: That with one heart and one voice the good people may express the grateful feelings of their hearts, and consecrate themselves to the service of their Divine Benefactor; and that together with their sincere acknowledgements and offerings, they may join the penitent confession of their manifold sins, whereby they had forfeited every favour, and their humble and earnest supplication that it may please God, through the merits of Jesus Christ, mercifully to forgive and blot them out of remembrance;
That it may please Him graciously to afford His blessings on the governments of these States respectively, and prosper the public council of the whole; to inspire our commanders both by land and sea, and all under them, with that wisdom and fortitude which may render them fit instruments, under the Providence of Almighty God, to secure for these United States, the greatest of all human blessings, independence and peace;
That it may please Him, to prosper the trade and manufactures of the people, and the labour of the husbandman, that our land may yet yield its increase; to take school and seminaries of education, so necessary for cultivating the principles of true liberty, virtue and piety, under His nurturing hand, and to prosper the means of religion for the promotion and enlargement of that kingdom which consisteth "in righteous, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost."
And it is further recommended, that servile labour, and such recreation as, though at other times innocent, may be unbecoming the purpose of this appointment, be omitted on so solemn an occasion.

IX. THE CONCLUSION:
Such is but a small sample of the overwhelming evidence I humbly place before the reader. I shall refrain from presuming to draw conclusions on this issue on behalf of others. Let The Holy Scriptures and America's Founding Fathers speak for themselves! May we today in this Nation hear The Word of God and the voices of our Founding Fathers while there is yet time to save America.IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN!
