I was first called to ministry in 1992 at the Mount Airy Corps. Majors Mike & Judy Vincent were the commanding officers. At that time, I was married and she had no interests in becoming an officer in the Salvation Army. In 2006, the Lord again called me; this time there were no reasons for me to say no. Therefore, instead of trusting and having faith in the Lord, I went my own way. I was living for the world, I had nice house fancy cars money, but my life was a shamble. Who knew that the Lord had a plan for me? Two years later on Sunday October 12 2008, I thought to myself where do I go. What can I do? Once more, I felt the Lord Jesus call me. This time I was more than ready to listen. Therefore, I went to the altar and I began to pray, “Lord, I know I have ignored your call in the past and I ask for your forgiveness. Maybe my eyes are blinded and I do not understand what your will is for me. I need a sign to help me understand what you want me to do.” I finished my prayer and the meeting came to a close. I said goodbye and went on my way. As I was driving down the road, my phone rang. Well Satin has reached me through a person from my pass. Feeling petulant and the conversation was getting long. so At that time, I came up on a flea market, and I decided to stop. As I pulled over, I noticed a red car with an older man inside. When I parked the car, I noticed the old man looking at me. I continued my conversation on the phone, trying to ignore him, but he kept looking at me. By this time my frustration was elicit. I ended my phone conversation and I notice the old man was still looking at me. Well I just thought that maybe this guy was just weird. As I was sitting there and gathering my thought I said to myself,” I am here I might as well look around.” When I got out of the car, the old man was getting out as well. I begin walking and he then approached me. Pointing his finger and saying, “I do not know you and I have never seen you before, but God has message for you.” “This is the third time that I have called you and I have a plan for you. I am the true vine and you are the branches. Go out and produce good fruit for my namesake. Be a vessel of God.” Then he continued to tell me. “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Repent your sins and glorify your God. This the last time I am calling you.” Now at first I felt lurid and full of emotions and my eyes in tears. It was only 30 minutes earlier; I was kneeling before God praying for a sign. This man had no way of knowing I had prayed to God earlier that day and being called two times prior. I asked the man what led him to be at the flea market. He replied, “God told me I would meet someone here today, and I would have a message for him.” In addition, the old man stated I just knew, “I Was That Person.” In addition, God knows my past. Yet my Lord Jesus still loves me. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. Today I am a new person, 2Co 5:17 “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: and old things are passed away; behold, they become new”. Today I am a cadet at SFOT in Atlanta.

It is one of my most favorite books. I will look over the rest of your pages. Thanks for that excellent work. I found your website by accident today.

What a wonderful example of God's love and compassion. Their are so many who don't understand The Salvation Army and it's mission. William and Catherine Booth had so much passion for their Lord and Saviour and you feel that passion as you read through this site. Thank you for bringing our founders alive and showing the love they had for God's children. God bess you

A fascinating read I must admit. I'm a lapsed salvationist myself (researching my family history) but virtually all of my family and relations are (or have been) Salvationists too. Its clear to me that the Booths were true 'Socialists' as well as being 'Evangalists' and cared about ordinary people (just read the article about the match factory). I must admit also about being a little in awe of their courage to do WHAT they did - WHEN they did - against all the odds. Truly remarkable people with an unshakeable belief. They certainly have my admiration.

I'm a soldier -- a youth director -- at my corps. Next to the scriptures, William and Catherine Booth have been the primary tools I have used to combat complacency and satisfaction with the status-quo that I experience in my ministry. Thank you for your efforts and know that for at least one person (willing to learn how to walk on his head and play the tambourine), this site has been used to extend the kingdom of Heaven.

The information you have on the website regarding William Booth is excellent and easy to understand. I have been helping my son research William Booth as a school project. The books we obtained so far were too difficult for a fifth grader to comprehend. He has a 4-6 page paper to write about a well known individual who is not from the United States. Your web site is exceptional and will help him immensely. Thanks.

What a fantastic Christian leader William Booth was. We need his kind of strong, sensible, spiritual leadership today in the Christian church. It is almost unthinkable what the world would be like today without the godly influence of The Salvation Army. Millions of people are enjoying a changed life because of its ministry. Keep the vision of the Booths alive as you minister in today's society.

I was in the hospital on Easter. I was on the 4th floor and woke up hearing music. I went to the window and the Salvation Army were playing wonderful music to me and other who enjoyed the surprise visit from them

A really excellent site, I am a 22 year old Salvationist at University and the quotes and information I have found here have been a real inspiration. Thank you.
