#1 A Man's Worth

We definitely need to understand that our lives do not have value based on what we have or what we do. A man's worth is not decided by his possessions*.

Our value is God-set, not self-set or society-set. Our value is not even based on our uniqueness in creation. Not only were we created higher than the animals, we were created in the image of God but Adam lost our intrinsic value when he sinned and we all continued to devalue ourselves with our own sins. Our value is in the reality that God loves us. He does not love us because we are valuable, but we are valuable because He loves us. He does not save us because we are valuable, we are valuable because He saves us. God loved us when we were unlovely*. Without Christ, all of the best we could offer was as filthy rags*. We truly had nothing to offer God and nothing to add to God. We came with empty hands as filthy beggars, "...but God who is rich in His mercy, for His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in sins..."* saved us. Our value is attributed to us in the love, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We then decide whether we will live worthy of the love which He has shown by living and walking in the power, wisdom and grace provided by the Holy Spirit. Therefore worth is initially imputed and then it is imparted. In other words, God counts us worthy and then He makes us worthy. Our worth starts, continues and ends in Jesus. Not what men say about us, but what God says. Not what we say about ourselves, but what God says.

There are many things that need to be done and not enough time to do them. However, there is always enough time to do whatever God requires of us. He knows our abilities, weaknesses, needs, obstacles and time alotments. He never assigns a task for which He does not equip us and give enough time to do. Though there is more to do than we have time for, there is always enough time to do what God expects. God knows our situation, our physical limitations and He only holds us accountable for His assignments. Sometimes we put greater requirements than does God. We then are self condemned.
