My Parents in 1946
![]() My father passed away 12 years ago. They had been married for 51 years. He was my hero and my inspiration to write. He wrote this poem about me before he died: rebellious days and nights, no end. Antagonism, many tears, a constant battle of the minds. As young adult we lost our child to forces far beyond our scope. Love and prayers our only role, as parents refusing to give up hope. A second marriage and mothers role God's love was found for our dear soul. and we who bow before God's grace, have wept with joy at this new face. Last night with love on bended knee, a once lost daughter prayed for mom and me. We are blessed! Amen. 7/28/94 Written by S. Thomas Collie (my dad) on 7/28/94 My mom, Billyjean Collie was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2001,after caring for my dad for many years. On April of 2009, Mom passed away from complications from the Alzheimers. I am so very thankful she was my mom for 54 years. You're missed. Tenderheart Compassion abounding in my mom's soul, to seek out those in need. Ever ready to set the role, to others hungry to receive. Quick to lend a helping hand, with never a thought of her own desires, gracious to give to other's demands, is the one who I certainly admire. Hospital room all gloomy and stark, Lay many sick with grief. Desperate and lonely they lay in the dark, Hoping and praying for sweet relief. The Master appears to light the way, through Tenderheart's extended hand. Dispelling the darkness; joy to stay, showing all God's power so grand. Quickly escaping are hurried years, but what is constant til the end time, is Tenderheart's mercy so clear, to demonstrate the Master's plan divine. ![]() |
