WHAT'S IT LIKE?
PRIMITIVE IS NOT ALWAYS BAD
Actually, our whole ministry is relatively new. I have been pastoring since 1969, but the locaction and program are all new. We are so new we are ancient. We don't look like the typical, modern church facility or program; we are more like what you might find on the foreign mission field. But then again, America has become more of a mission field with it's rampant hedonism. Though we enjoy comfort as much as anyone else, we don't make the comforts and pleasures of this world our focus. And...if we can't afford something, we basically do without it.
We have a few acres in Tennessee on which we live, worship, study and entertain fellow travelers. We are under construction at this time, so our accommodations are simple (did I mention primitive?). Like the old fella said, "If you wanna spend the night, you'll hafta to make your own bed...I'll get you the hammer and nails." Well, it's not quite that bad.
We are building small cabins for those who want to spend a night or two when they come for teaching, counseling, or fellowship. This is not exactly a tourist resort, but if a person is seriously wanting to grow in Christ, he will be welcome to contact us about visiting. There are some trails, mountains, rivers, caves and forests to explore nearby. There are also many other kinds of "recreational" activities. We live in a very diverse region. But remember, this is not the "Holyday Inn" and we are not "Carnival Cruise." We believe in good clean fun and relaxation, but our main thrust is the Word of God, where we find "Joy unspeakable and full of glory."
Our plan is to provide a home atmosphere in which those who are seeking Biblical training (whether leadership or laity) can spend some time in study, fellowship, worship and working on the property. The Lord willing, we should be hosting some retreat and seminar sessions as of the spring of 2003.
