TEARS OF THE CHILDREN
How many times have you wondered if the Lord really sees our tears? Does He hear our crying out in the wilderness? Even if our life is in a mess and we are at fault, does he hear us?

Abraham had a child through another woman. The child was a picture of what we know as the flesh. His name was Ishmael born of a servant to his wife Sarah. How many times have we let things like this happen in our lives, only to look back with regrets that we did not follow God. Like Abraham, we too would like to wake up one morning and send our problems away.

I am so glad that God does not allow us to get by that easy. What about the problem? What about the child? Who will care for the child? Was the problem with Ishmael or Abraham? Who brought the problem into being?

Even if we are the results of other people’s faults, I am so glad that we are precious in the eyes of the Lord. Ishmael was named by the angel in Genesis 16:11 "and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.."

We were all asleep in our home on a cool night in September. Very seldom do we have such cool nights in the tropical islands, but this one night put everyone in a deep calm sleep.

Sometime around 2 o'clock in the morning Miss Debbie quickly sat straight up in the bed. I had been asleep but such a movement woke me up. I asked her what was wrong because I thought that maybe she was sick or had a bad dream of some sort. She said, "did you hear that baby crying? I hear a baby crying. Did you hear that?"

Even though I was asleep, most of the time when any of the children in our orphanage would cry out, I always hear it. I said, " no, I did not hear a child crying but maybe you should go to their rooms and check to make sure they are all asleep."

Miss Debbie got out of bed and from room to room she checked on every child to make sure they were all safe and sound. She came back to bed with a puzzled tone to her voice and shaking her head. She said " they are all sound asleep, but I know that I heard a baby crying". Finally, we went back to sleep again.

Two nights later, Miss Debbie woke me up again in the same manner. She asked, "do you hear that baby crying?" I said no, there is no baby crying, maybe you are just hearing things". Again, another search of the house but no baby crying.

The next morning I woke up at 5:00, and went down to my study to pray. Miss Debbie went out for her early morning walk before the children began to awaken. I came out of my study and I saw her sitting in the kitchen on a bench that we use for feeding the children. I could tell something was bothering her, so I sat down beside her.

She said, "honey, I hear a baby crying for me. It sounds like the child is trying to get to me. I know that I am not hearing things. I actually hear that baby crying for me." I don't know what to do about it, so while I was walking I stopped and asked the Lord to help me. I told the Lord to put somebody in the path of that baby to help it get to me. She said " Lord, I don't know where that baby is, but you do and will you help the child get to me where I can love it and keep it safe. She said, “Lord, the baby is crying, could you hear it crying?” Lord, help that child wherever it may be.

Was this just a coincidence? Was Miss Debbie hearing things? This was 6:00 am in the morning of September last year, when we sat and talked. That same day at 7:30 PM, a City Social Worker called me and asked me if we would take in a 4-month-old baby girl.

The Social Worker tried to explain the circumstances to me but I told her not to explain but just bring the baby to us. I know she thought I was crazy when I told her that the child had been heard in the heavens, "for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is."

Up in the night, they brought to us a precious little girl named Sheila Mae. Her mother had abandoned her and the father was unknown. Sheila Mae had been sick and needed much care.

Miss Debbie wrapped Sheila Mae in her arms and held her throughout the night. When the child began to cry, I asked Debbie "is she the one that you heard in the night"? Miss Debbie gently smiled and said, " she's the one!"

The Lord sees the fatherless children with love and compassion even though they might be the offspring of the works of sin. They are precious in His Sight and not one time do they cry without the Lord hearing.

We have a wonderful Father! He puts people like you, our supporters in their paths to help. Every dollar that you send stop the tears of suffering children in the Philippines, builds Bible Preaching Churches, trains men like Job to preach the Gospel, and shows the world that you love and care for their soul. Thank God for each of you that He works through to help the Filipino Nation.

Also help us pray for the Children. Help us pray that the Lord will put people in the path of those little kids that are crying in the streets to lead us to them. We have 17 children now in the Lamb Center. This is only possible through people like you who give and support with your prayer and giving. We praise the Lord for each of you.
