Kettering & District Churches Together
Christian Aid
Churches Together in Kettering & District recognise the value and importance of Christian Aid since being founded in 1945. £14 million had been raised in 2007 alone. Christian Aid worked in three ways. Disaster relief, development projects and campaigning on issues such as trade justice and climate change. Partner organisations worked across religious divides with monitoring and assessment processes which ensured that money raised was used to make a real difference to people’s lives.
As an example, a birth pack is provided to women trained as birth attendants and which cost only 40p but which was saving many lives.
Volunteers are always needed to join a small committee to co-ordinate the annual collection, and for representatives to be identified as contacts in each Church.
