When entering information into the Event Description, you have several editing options. You can edit the text by choosing the font size and color or making text bold, italic, underlined or superscripted. In addition you can add links, graphics, and media.

Formating Text:

To make text bold, select the text and click the bold icon . Follow a similar process for making text italic , or underlined . You can also click the icon before typing the text and the text entered after clicking the icon(s) will have those attributes. By clicking the Font Type option, a drop-down menu will be displayed with several \"web friendly\" text font options (see figure 1). Similarly, by clicking the Font Size\" text size options (see figure 2).

In addition, you can choose text color or highlight text. By clicking either the Font Color icon or the Background Color icon , a color window will be displayed (see figures 3 and 4). Click the color you want or you can also choose the \"More Colors\" option to have access to a larger array of colors. Click the color you wish the text or highlight to be.

Bullets and Numbered Lists:

You can also add bullet points or a numbered list by adding the list, selecting it with your mouse and clicking the Bullet Icon or Numbered List Icon .

Horizontal Line:

If you wish to separate information in the description, use the Horizontal Rule icon . It is similar to the Line tool in the Page Editor. The Horizontal Rule icon creates a line across the entire Event description box.

Add A Graphic:

Add a graphic to make the description more interesting or to display further information. For example, if you are having a concert at your church, you could put a picture of the music artist who is coming. To add a picture, click in the Event Description box where you want the picture to be located and then click the Add Image icon .

This will bring up the Insert Image window (figure 5). Click the folder icon at the top, right of the window across from the \"Image URL\" field to access your File Manager. Select the graphic you wish to display and click the \"Ok\" button at the bottom, right of the File Manager window. This will close the File Manager window and insert the URL (web address) for the graphic into the \"Image URL\" field. Select any other options you wish for the graphic and then click the \"Insert\" button at the bottom, left of the Insert Image window.

Figure 5

* Note: A picture must be uploaded to your website before you can add the picture to the Event Description. If you have not uploaded the picture, use your Asset Manager to upload the picture.

Add Audio, Video, or Flash:

To add media, click in the Event Description box where you want the media to be located and then click the Add Media icon .

This will bring up the Insert Media window (figure 6). First, choose the type of media you want to put in the description. Next, click the folder icon at the top, right of the window across from the \"File/URL\" field to access your File Manager. (Click here for more info about the Asset Manager) Select the media file you wish to display and click the \"Ok\" button at the bottom, right of the File Manager window. This will close the File Manager window and insert the URL (web address) for the media file into the \"File/URL\" field.
* Note: A media file must be uploaded to your website before you can add the media to the Event Description. If you have not uploaded the media file, use your Asset Manager to upload the media.

Add A Link:

Add a link to provide more information about an event. For example, if you are having a concert at your church, you could put a link to the website of the music artist who is coming. You may also have a page of your website devoted to this event. You could add a link to that page in the description of the event. To add a link, highlight the text that you want to be the link with your mouse and then click the Add Link icon . This will bring up a window where you can enter the URL (web address) of the website or web page you want the link to go to or select one of your website\'s pages to link to.

Enter the URL (web address) of the website or web page into the \"Link URL\" field. If you want to link to one of the pages of your website, leave the \"Link URL\" field blank and select the page you want to link to in the \"Link List\" drop-down menu. Select any other options you wish for your link and click the \"Insert\" button.

* Tip: If you are not sure what the URL (web address) is for the site or page you want to link to, go to the site or page the way you normally would. Next, select the URL in the address bar of your web browser and copy it. Then paste that URL into the Link URL field for the link.

Edit HTML Source:

For more advanced webmasters who are comfortable working in html code, you can click the \"Edit HTML Source\" button (pic - html icon) and a window will open with the html code. Edit the code as you wish and then click the \"Update\" button.

Adding a New Event:

To add a new event, login to your admin section, click the dropdown "Add-on Modules" menu in the top menu of your admin section and choose "Events Calendar".

This will bring up a page which displays the current month of the calendar with all events which have been setup. There are two ways to add a new event to the calendar:

Click a date on the calendar. This will open the Add New Event page with the date you clicked already selected as the date of the event.

Click the "New Event" button at the top of the page. This will open the Add New Event page with today's date selected as the date of the event.

This will open the Add an Event page:

On this page you will setup the event title, description, dates, whether the event is repeated regularly, and whether you would like the event highlighted.

Event Title:

This is the text that will appear in the month view of the calendar and, if a visitor clicks on the event in the calendar, the title will be displayed right below the date and time of the event and right above the details for the event.

Event Description:

Add additional information about the event such as length of event, directions, or a description of the event. This information will not be displayed in the month view of the calendar; however, if a visitor clicks on an event, then this information will be displayed right below the Event Title.

For more information about the editing options of the Event Description, click here.

Highlight:

All events have a different background color than dates in the calendar with no event; however, you can call special attention to an event by highlighting that event. This gives the event a different background color than other events. To have an event highlighted, select the \"Highlight\" option.

Date and Time:

Here you can select the date and time of an event. If you clicked a specific event in order to add this event, then that date will already be selected for you. If you used the "Add an Event" button, then today's date will be selected. You can change the date and time of an event by clicking on the drop-down menus and selecting the appropriate time and date.

Event Repeats:

The Event Repeats option is a very helpful tool for entering events that happen on a regular repeating schedule without having the re-enter the event for each date the event happens. For example, if this is a church website, you probably have weekly worship services at the same time each week. Instead of entering a new event for each Sunday, enter the event once and then select the "Weekly" option for the Events Repeating option. This will then setup the put the event on every Sunday. You can choose between events repeating daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or not repeating. With the weekly repeating option, you can select if the event repeats on a particular date each year or on the first, second, third, etc. particular day (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) of the month. (figure 1)

Figure 1

Add the Event:

When you have entered all the information for an event and have setup the settings properly, click the "Add" button at the bottom of the page to add the event.

** Note: Events can be edited or deleted at any time.

General Info:

The Calendar module allows you to let visitors and members of your website know what's going on when. The NE1 Calendar module is not only capable displaying events on a calendar on your website, but each event is clickable, displaying greater details about the event when clicked. The calendar also has a repeating event feature. So, if you have an event that happens every week at the same time, you only have to setup the event once and select the setting for a weekly event. The calendar then automatically inserts that event for each week. You can add events and configure the Events Calendar by logging into the admin section and the selecting the "Events Calendar" in the "Add-On Modules" in the top menu.

You can add the Events Calendar module to any page using the "Insert Module" feature when editing a page. For more information about how to insert a module, please see the "Modules: Insert a Module" help page.

*Note: The Events Calendar module is available with all paid hosting packages.
