Uploading and Resizing Images:

Once the gallery has been created, upload images by clicking the \"Upload new images\" button for that gallery. This will allow you to choose up to 5 images at a time from your computer to upload to your website. Check the \"Resize for internet\" checkbox before uploading to take advantage of the built-in image resizer. (Recommended)

If you have already created a photo gallery and would like to add additional pictures to it, but want to be able to see what pictures you have already uploaded, click on the name of the gallery you want to add the photos to in the gallery list. The page that comes up will display all the photos in the gallery. Click the \"Upload New Images\" button at the top of the page to add additional photos.

*Tip: Digital cameras make it very easy to take pictures and upload them for use on your website; however, most of today\'s cameras produce very large pictures both in dimension and file size. It is best to reduce the size of the photos when using them on the web. This will save disk space and prevent pictures from being so large that they are bigger a persons screen. Use the \"Resize for Internet\" option to have the photos automatically resized.

The NE1 Gallery module is a powerful and easy way to display a photo gallery on your website. The "Config" tab of the gallery editor allows for several adjustments in the way your gallery is displayed. The options are as follows:

Thumbnails Width: Enter the desired thumbnail width as measured in pixels (a standard thumbnail photo is 140 pixels wide). This measurement applies to pictures that are not yet added to the gallery. Once a picture has been uploaded, the width of the thumbnail will not be changed if this setting changes.

Thumbnails Square: This is an optional setting that will create a square box surrounding the thumbnail pictures. Enter a number of pixels to determine the size of the square box.

New Images Order: Use this drop down menu to determine where any new images should appear in your gallery. Choosing "Front", for example, will place all new pictures at the front end of the gallery list.

Gallery Sorting: You can choose the order in which your pictures will be displayed. Note that the images will then be sorted by their file name - NOT by captions or comments. Also note that the pictures can be hand-sorted by dragging and dropping the pictures into the desired order. The manual sorting WILL override any choice for this setting.

Images Per Page: Place a number here to determine how many pictures will be displayed before the gallery is forced to create a new page of pictures.

Images Per Row: Place a number here to determine how many pictures will make up one row in the gallery. Note that leaving this blank will let the browser and the margins decide how many pictures can most comfortable fit across the page.

Hide Comments from Gallery Display: This setting will hide all comments/captions from site visitors. However, the comments themselves will continue to be visible to the administrator when editing the galleries.

Be sure to click the "Save Changes" button to save your gallery settings.

Editing Pictures in a Gallery:

When in the gallery section of your admin, click on the name of the photo gallery to access the gallery editor. To edit pictures in a gallery, click the small pencil icon underneath the picture. A powerful picture editor appears with the picture ready to be edited. Edit the size, rotate, or crop the picture as desired and click \"Save\" to save the changes. When you save the picture you can either save over the original or save the edited picture under a new name. If you save it under a new name, you will have both the original picture and new editing picture in your gallery. You will also be able to choose what compression level you wish to use when you save your picture. The higher the compression, the less disk space the picture will take up, however, you may lose some of the picture quality. Conversely, a picture saved at a low compression level will have better quality, but will use up more of your website\'s disk space. Click \"Exit\" to return to the gallery.

While you are editing a picture, you can click \"View Original\" to revert back to the original image; however, once a picture has been saved, you will not be able to revert to the original only to where you last saved the picture. Click \"Exit\" without clicking the \"Save\" button to return to the gallery without saving the changes.

*Note: Some pop-up blocker software will prevent the editing feature from opening the window to edit a picture. See the instructions for your pop-up blocker to temporarily disable pop-up blocking.

General Info:

Perhaps one of the more popular features of the NE1 Web Builder is the Gallery Module. This module enables anyone to insert a full featured photo gallery with just a few mouse clicks. Pictures can include comments and can be automatically resized when you upload them for a perfect fit.

Each gallery can contain many pictures (we haven\'t run into a limit yet). A gallery page will display up to 12 thumbnails per page. A thumbnail is a small version of a picture. If you have more than 12 pictures in the gallery, the gallery will create new pages for the additional pictures with 12 pictures per page. As mentioned above, the gallery module automatically creates thumbnails of each picture and displays the thumbnails on the pages. This allows for more pictures to be displayed on a single page. When you click on a thumbnail, a new window will open and display the picture in its full size.

The gallery module also has a \"Slideshow\" feature which allows visitors to view all the pictures in a gallery on after the next in their full size. The slideshow is automatically created when you create a gallery and add pictures to it.

You can add the Gallery module to any page using the \"Insert Module\" feature when editing a page. For more information about how to insert a module, please see the \"Modules: Insert a Module\" (link) help page.

*Note: The gallery module is available with the Gold, Silver, and Bronze hosting packages.

*Note 2: When a gallery is larger than 12 pictures and the gallery creates new pages for the gallery, these are not new web pages, but rather new gallery pages. So, they do not count against your page limit.

*Note 3: When inserting a gallery into a page or creating a gallery page, you must select a specific gallery to insert. Alternatively, you can also insert a gallery list which lists all of your galleries.

*Tip: If you are nearing your page limit, but want to have several photo galleries, create a gallery list page instead of creating new pages for each gallery. This will allow you to have all the galleries on your website, but it will only use one web page.
