Add a New Menu:

This feature is primarily for administrative purposes. The purpose of additional menus is to give the webmaster a convenient method to organize all the pages that have been created, without necessarily making these pages available to the public. A good example would involve a page that was designed specifically for Christmas or any other holiday. During the “off-season” the page may need to be accessed once in awhile by the webmaster – but not by the public. To keep things neatly organized, the webmaster can add a new menu that lists all holiday pages, for example, and provides an easy method for organizing those pages. It is important to note that any additional menus created will not be seen by the public when using a standard NE1 template. The new NE1 templates are designed to contain one main menu only. Custom templates can be designed to use multiple menus

Menu settings are accessed by the “Menu Options” tab at the top of the webmaster page.

To add a new menu, type the desired menu name into the “Menu name:” box and click the “Add a new menu” button. The new menu will be instantly available in the listing on the left side of the admin pages.

Configuring the Order of the Links in the Navigation Menu:

Any link in the navigation menu can be moved by clicking to edit the link’s corresponding page and then clicking on the small red arrows at the bottom of the “Edit Subpage” box. Click on the up arrow to move the link higher in the order and click on the down arrow to move the page down in the order.

If you want to move multiple links, click the “Move page” text link just below the “Edit Subpages” box (left of the up and down arrows) when editing any page. This will display a special page for editing the position of each page within your website. Insert the number representing the order in which you would like the pages displayed in the menu. Also, subpages can have their order changed as well. The first subpage is number 1, second number 2, and so on. Be sure to click “Save changes” when the desired order has been determined.

Configuring a Menu Item:

The text displayed on the navigation buttons is determined by the “Page Name” of the page the link is directed toward. For example: When you create a website, your homepage has the Page Name “Home”, therefore “Home” is displayed in the navigation menu. If you change the Page Name of the homepage to “Homepage”, then “Homepage” would be displayed in the navigation menu. This is the only function of the Page Name, so changing the page name will not affect any other settings or page content. When setting up external links, the same technique is used to determine the link text. Please see the “External Links” help page for more information about creating external links.

Display Submenu:

A submenu is a list of menu items that reveals itself when a mouse rolls over a main menu. This is a handy feature for adding some organization to your menu choices. For example, you may have a main menu item entitled “About Us”. Some common submenu items that would be appear under this topic would be “Our Location”, “Our Statement of Faith”, “Our Mission”, or “Our History”. By making these items a part of a submenu, a lot of space is saved and your visitors are able to navigate more conveniently.

To edit the submenu settings, be sure to select a menu from the drop down box first and then click on the “Submenu Settings” tab.

Each menu item can also link to an external page (a page that is not on your website). To do this, add a new page as you would normally. After the page has been added, click the “Other Settings” tab and notice the “External URL:” box at the bottom. By inserting a web address (URL) into this box and pressing “Save changes”, you have automatically created a menu link to an external page.

You can determine the link text for the external link by setting the “Page Name” in the page settings. Click the “Edit Subpage” tab, enter the text you want displayed in the navigation menu for the link, and click the “Save Changes” button.

General Info:

The ability to easily navigate around a website is very important to visitors. Because of these navigation requirements, clear and simple menus are one of the fundamental needs for a website. As a result, dozens of different types of menus are seen on the internet - animated, static, text, graphical, with mouse-over effects, without mouse-over effects, tree/directory structure, and even no menu! The new templates available with NE1 give the webmaster many choices for the location and type of menu. Animations and designs are built-in to give the most professional look without the need for hours of design work.

In addition to the variety of menu options you will find in the various NE1 templates, OurChurch.Com is available to create custom templates with customized menus to meet your needs.

*Note: Main menu items are automatically added when a page is created. No actual creation of menus is necessary with the NE1 web builder. Editing of menus is available for the purpose of adding sub-menus or external links when desired or modifying the navigation menus appearance.

The site wide menu options can be accessed by clicking the \"Menu Options\" link in the top navigation menu of your admin section.

Modifying link text, moving links, creating sub-menus, and creating external links can be done in the page settings of the individual pages.
