You Now Have Better Audio/Videos Functionality In Your Website
Posted by Paul Steinbrueck on 26 November 2014 08:56 AM

Hi OCC Members,

One of the best ways to engage new and regular visitors to your website is with audio and video.  However, one of the biggest barriers that prevents website visitors from being able to listen to audio or watch video on a website is when a plugin is required to be installed in their web browser to listen/watch.  So, we've been working on improvements to our NE1 Web Builder that will enable visitors to expeirence audio and video without a plugin.

Earlier today we distributed the improved audio/video functionality to everyone using the NE1 Website Builder in a Gold, Silver or Bronze account.  If you have a free site, you can get the improved audio/video functionality when you upgrade - http://myocc.ourchurch.com

It's important to note... only MP3 audio and MP4 video can be played without a plugin.

Here's a video tutorial that shows how it works:

If you have any questions, just let us know.

P.S. We also increased the size of the audio/video files that can be uploaded using the Asset Manager in NE1 to 40 MB (anything bigger than that can be uploaded using FTP.)

Scheduled Downtime - March 25, 3-6 PM ET
Posted by Paul Steinbrueck on 25 March 2014 02:16 PM

Hi OurChurch.Com Web Administrators,

While attempting to update our Dashboard last week, we encountered a technical problem that removed some administrative data concerning orders and invoices from Wednesday 3/19 to Friday 3/21.  If you placed any orders, paid a renewal fee or created a new site during those days, that information is not in our system at the moment.  As a result, you may have received an invoice for services that you already paid for or you may have created a new account and now can’t access it.

I want to stress that there was no security breach.  No data was stolen.  We have all of the data in our back-ups.

This afternoon beginning around 3 PM ET, we are going to be taking the Dashboard offline so we can get all that data back into the system and up to date.  We estimate this process will take  about 3 hours.  During this time, you will not be able to login to the Dashboard.  Therefore, you will not be able to place orders, make payments or edit websites built with our NE1 Web Builder. All websites will continue to be fully functional to website visitors.

We apologize for the inconvenience.  And we hope to have all of these rectified by 6 PM ET today.

Thanks for your patience  and understanding.  And thanks again for the opportunity to help you achieve your mission online.

In His Service,
Paul Steinbrueck
OurChurch.Com

Update Regarding the New Dashboard, Web hosting, & Domain Registration
Posted by Paul Steinbrueck on 27 November 2013 11:04 AM

Happy Thanksgiving (a little early) OurChurch.Com’ers,

We’ve had a busy month here at OurChurch.Com and I have a few new things to announce as well as a few recent events to recap just to be sure everyone is in the know.

1) Move to the new dashboard - Yesterday we completed moving all paying clients from our old admin system to the new Dashboard.  Woohoo!  I hope you all find it more helpful and user-friendly. We would love to hear your honest opinion. Post a comment in our Facebook group.

If you have a free site, we will move your site to the new dashboard at your request. Just go to your MyOCC page and click the "Request New Dashboard" button.

2) New web hosting prices and packages – OurChurch.Com provides a great value to the Christian organizations to whom we serve because unlike other hosting companies, we understand and share your beliefs, we committed to helping you achieve your mission online, and we provide superior support (not outsourced to another country). Our goal is not to be cheapest web hosting option but the best. We do want to continue to be cost competitive, though, so we have reduced the prices of our web hosting packages.  If your account was recently moved to the new dashboard, we gave you a free upgrade at that time so you are already receiving the new price.

Additionally, we eliminated the Starter package to make choosing a hosting package simpler.  If you had a Starter package, when we moved you to the new dashboard we gave you a free upgrade to Bronze, so you now have the Bronze package for the same price you were paying for Starter.

3) Domain registration price change – The costs we pay to register domain names has continued to increase over the last couple of years, so we have had to increase the price of our domain registration service from $14.95 to $19.95.  Can you find a cheaper place to register your domain name? Sure. Ever try to get a domain name moved, settings changed, or billing issue resolved with one of them? Argh! We save you from those hassles and headaches.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving with the peace of mind that comes from knowing we’re keeping an eye on things for you so your website can help you achieve your mission while you’re offline spending time with family and giving thanks to God.

In His Service,
Paul Steinbrueck, CEO

We`re Moving Gold Accounts to the New Dashboard
Posted by Paul Steinbrueck on 25 November 2013 06:02 PM

Today (Monday) we are moving all Gold accounts to the new Dashboard. We've been giving all web hosting clients a free upgrade when we move them to the new dashboard, but since you've already got our top package, we can't do that, but don't worry, we've got something extra planned for you too. :)

You’re going to love the new dashboard because it’s got...

  • A simpler login using your email address instead of a username
  • A cleaner design
  • Easier, more intuitive navigation
  • Convenience of having multiple contacts, so you can focus on being the admin and the person who pays the bills can automatically get the invoices sent to them.
  • Invoices that are easy to read, print and pay.
  • Convenience of being able to look up your entire payment history online any time you like.
  • Totally new shopping cart that’s far easier to use

Note that moving to the new dashboard will not affect the appearance or functionality of your website in any way. Nor will it affect the admin of your site except for the "Change to NE1 Login" explained below. That’s a separate system that has not changed. If you’d like to take a look before moving, we’ve created this quick, 5 minute video that shows you around the new dashboard.

Important Details for Gold Accounts

  • Invoice/ Payment Info.  We are not able to transfer credit card information from our old admin system to the new dashboard.  If you are paying for any services, when you move to the new dashboard, you will be emailed an invoice even if you are currently having your credit card charged automatically each month or year.  Please pay it promptly.  After you’ve made one payment in the new dashboard, you can be billed automatically again from that point forward.
  • Ad-Free Option to NE1 Premium.  In the new dashboard, the AdFree Option is now called NE1 Premium.
  • Change to NE1 Login.  If you use our NE1 Web Builder, the only thing that will change is the way you login to the NE1 Admin.  When you click the "Administrator" button at the bottom of your site, you'll be taken to the login for the Dashboard. After you login to the Dashboard using your email and password, click the "NE1 Website Builder" link in the navigation menu. On the page that follows, click the (NE1 Admin) link next to the name of your website.

Got any comments or questions? Just let us know. We’d be happy to help.

We`re Upgrading Starter Accounts to Bronze & the New Dashboard
Posted by Paul Steinbrueck on 19 November 2013 10:38 AM

Earlier this month we announced… New Dashboard Available to All - No Strings Attached! and the upgrade/moving of Bronze sites to the new Dashboard.

Today we begin the next phase of moving sites to the new Dashboard.  Over the next week we will be moving all Starter accounts to the new Dashboard, including yours, and giving all Starter users a free upgrade to Bronze all at no extra cost. (We'll be moving accounts with other packages in the near future, but if you want to move now you can still click the "Request New Dashboard" link on your MyOCC page

If you’d like to take a look, we’ve created this quick, 5 minute video that shows you around the new dashboard.

Important Details for Starter Accounts

There are a number of significant changes and improvements you need to be aware of:

  1. Invoice/ Payment Info.
  2. Domain name nameserver settings change. As a part of the upgrade your website is being moved to a new server.  This means your domain name's "nameserver" settings need to be changed from ns.ourchurch.com and ns2.ourchurch.com to ns9.ourchurch.com and ns10.ourchurch.com.  If you have our domain registration service, we will make this change for you.  If you registered your own domain name, you will need to make this change as soon as you receive another email from us indicating your account has been moved.
  3. Ad-Free Option to NE1 Premium.  In the new dashboard, the AdFree Option is now called NE1 Premium.
  4. Change to NE1 Login.
  5. Exciting Bronze Features. With your upgrade to the Bronze package (at no extra cost), you will get a bunch of new features like email accounts @YourDomain, audio and video.  There is also a new cPanel control panel used to manage all these new features.

Got any comments or questions? Just let us know. We’d be happy to help.
