"This question was posed to me, and the only instructions were, 'When I say the word, without thinking, tell me, what is the first thing you visualized in your head? what image did you see?'" - PhillipLaSpino
Lutheran High School South is a co-educational, private, Christian school serving over 540 students in grades 9 through 12 who live in the St. Louis, MO region. They launched their new Custom Pro website back in June. This website included features such as a custom designed Flash header, image and news rotators, and advanced events calendar.
One of the most advanced feature they utilize is the “Faculty Class Pages” section. Here, each teacher is given the ability to create their own pages to be published online. This allows teachers to communicate with Parents and Students while they are not in the classroom. The document manager also allows teachers to upload any documents into their own “folder” for Parents or Students to obtain while out of the classroom as well. This has truly taken Teacher/Student/Parent communication to a new level.
LHSS has also had their website optimize for search engines with OurChurch.Com's Top School Search Rankings service to improve search rankings, increase website traffic, and bring new students to the school.
Our theme this month has been Back to School. If you manage a school website, you'll want to check out all the things we're doing to help schools communicate more effectively.
But even if your website is not related to education, you'll find some good stuff in this month's newsletter. Items related to search marketing, social media, NE1 website tips, and a hilarious video from Christian comedian Tim Hawkins.

2) STORIES OF SEARCH ENGINE SUCCESS
For years we've been raving about the great return on investment search engine optimization (SEO) provides. Recently, though, you've been raving about it. In just the last month, we've gotten reports from a church, a ministry, and a school that have seen SEO pay off big time. If the dreams you have for your church, school, ministry or business involve growth, we'd be happy to do a free phone consultation to discuss how SEO could help you achive your dreams.
If you’ve been following this series, by now you should understand the social media platform you’re getting into from reading about it, listening to others, and mingling. You should also be developing your voice and getting into a rhythm when you read and post to the social media platform.
Keep in mind that we’re still talking about getting started on a social media platform as an individual. It’s important to become proficient as an individual before using it on behalf of your organization.
Since we’re still talking about your personal use of social media, you may be thinking “Goals? I don’t need no stinking goals!”
My philosophy is anything worth doing is worth settings goals for. More...
4) WEBSITE TIPS VIDEOS
This month we began creating 2-3 minute videos that show you how to do useful things with your website. We've published 6 of them already on topics like how to add a video, a Facebook Fanbox, or Google Analytics to your website. You can watch all of them on our the OurChurch.Com YouTube Channel.
6) WIN $50 THE BUG OF THE MONTH CONTEST
To make everyone's experience on the OurChurch.Com website even better, we've giving away $50 every month to someone who reports a misspelling, grammatical error, dead link, or other problem in our monthly Bug of the Month contest. Each bug you report will give you an entry into a monthly drawing we'll do for $50 towards OCC services. The more bugs you report, the better your chances to win. Congrats to David Rowland who won this month's $50.
7) NEW EDUCATION NE1 TEMPLATE
We've got one new template for you at the moment. Keeping with the back to school theme, it's a colorful template with a header that's got the word LEARN spelled out with wooden blog letters. We'll be making 3 more new templates available next week, when we make a special announcement.
That'll do it for this issue. Thanks for hosting your website at OurChurch.Com. Please post comments and questions concerning this newsletter in our forums.
