ZION'S CHURCH 2010
![]() God has given me the wonderful opportunity of working with people from all classes of life. God has allowed me to have a great deal of experience in many different fields of life. I have been a fork truck operator, maintenance man, welder, salesman, Hotel Manager, art teacher, Church planter, Family Counselor, book keeper, and basketball coach. I believe this has helped me in my ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I believe that the Apostle Paul was right when he said; I will become all things to all men in order that I may win them to Christ. I feel that God has given me strength to work with and manage people. I enjoy teaching and preaching God's Word and leading people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have been privileged to working in the field of Christian family counseling since 1984 and am certified through New Life Ministries. I founded the Buffalo Valley Counseling Center in 1996. I have also been blessed by God to conducted Seminars on the Christian Home. I believe God has called me here to the Zion's Church to win people to Jesus Christ and to build disciples for the Kingdom of God before the Lord comes back. We have come from a very liberal UCC church history to embrace a Conservative Bible teaching Church position. There has been great revival and change in our Church since I started in August 13th of 2007. We have seen folks get saved and people’s lives changed forever. We want to build a church that glorifies the Lord. I have been married to my wonderful wife Celeste since 1977, and have four children: Jon, who works for D.C. United, Kyle who works for Sight and Sound, Brandon who plays football for Lehigh University, and Karis who is at home. I was born on July 12th, 1952 and raised in Ripon, Wisconsin. ZION'S CHURCH- ABOUT US For many years the Zion's Church was reformed in their theology. Then in the 1950s the church decided to join the United Church of Christ Association. In 2005 the General Association of the United Church of Christ decided to pass an amendment in their Doctrinal Statement accepting same sex marriage and the acceptance of gay ministers. It was at that time that the Zion's Church decided to pull out of the association, along with a number of other churches in the state of Pennsylvania. The former Pastor of Zion’s United Church of Christ supported the general Associations new amendments for same sex marriage and gay ministers. The majority of the congregation was conservative and did not agree with this ungodly position, and the former Pastor resigned in 2005. Dr. John Radke was asked to become the interim Pastor. In 2006, under the leadership of Dr. John Radke a, new Constitution was written and the new Board of elders and the church set out on a bold and exciting new journey to become an Independent Nondenominational Bible Preaching Church. Zion’s Church is located on a beautiful campus with several acres of land. The church has a 220 seat auditorium, beautiful park area with a gazebo and a historic schoolhouse which has been converted into a fellowship pavilion. The Zion's Church has been the host of the Annual Fireman's Carnival which is held every August. The park has become the central meeting place for the Kratzerville community. OUR BELIEFS- WHAT WE BELIEVE: THE HOLY SCRIPTURES: We believe that all Scripture, by which we understand the whole book called the Bible, is given by inspiration of God; that it is without error in the original writing and that it's teaching and authority is absolute, supreme and final. It is the final rule for faith and practice. 2 Tim. 3: 15, 16. THE TRINITY: We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, having the same nature, attributes and perfection. THE DEITY OF CHRIST: We believe in the personality and Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, truly God and truly man. THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the Personality and Deity of the Holy Spirit, the source and power of all acceptable worship and service. The Holy Spirit is the infallible interpreter of the infallible Word, who indwells every true believer upon salvation and is ever present to testify of Christ seeking to occupy us with Him and not with ourselves or our experiences. MANKIND: We believe that man was created in the image and after the likeness of God, but that the whole human race fell in the sin of the first Adam, and apart from Christ is spiritually dead and lost. We believe that no degree of reformation however great, no attainment of morality however high, no culture however attractive, no humanitarian and philanthropic schemes and societies however useful, no baptism or other Sacrament however administered, can help the sinner to take even one step toward heaven; but a new nature imparted from above, a new life implanted by the Holy Spirit through repentance and conversion through the new birth in Jesus Christ is absolutely essential to Salvation. Eph. 2:1-3, 8-9. CHRIST AND SALVATION: We believe that Jesus Christ became the sinner's substitute before God and died as a complete satisfactory sacrifice for the sin of the whole world. That he redeemed to us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse in our place, dying the just for the unjust according to the Scriptures; that no repentance, no feeling, no faith, no good resolutions, no sincere efforts, no submission to rules and regulations of any Church can add in the very least to the value of the precious blood of Christ to the merit of that finished work, wrought for us by Him. THE CHURCH: We believe that the Church is composed of all those who truly believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. It is the body and variety of Christ. We believe that every believer, whether Jewish or Gentile, is baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit and having thus become members of one another we're responsible to keep the unity of the spirits in the bond of peace, rising above all sectarian prejudices and loving one another with a pure heart fervently. BAPTISM AND HOLY COMMUNION: We believe the Word baptism in the Greek language is the word for immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an active obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Jesus Christ. Baptism is not a means of salvation and not part of salvation for church membership. Baptism is a public testimony to one's faith in a change life in Christ. Because each local church has the right to set its own doctrine in accordance with the Bible and their beliefs, infant baptisms and child dedication services will be permitted, but will not transmit the idea of Salvation or Church membership. Holy Communion is the symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of vine, memorialize the death of Jesus Christ our Lord, and anticipate His Second Coming. FELLOWSHIP: We believe that the Bible teaches that as a Church we should remain doctrinally sound and pure in its beliefs. We are to separate ourselves from the world and its ungodly practices. Therefore, it is extremely important that we fellowship with Churches and individuals who take a clear stand on the Bible and practice doctrine which is conservative and Biblical. We do not agree with the charismatic movement and speaking in tongues. We do not believe in following the teachings of John Calvin or Armenian theology. We are a Pre-tribulational, Pre-millennial Church. We are “Biblicists” in every sense of the word. LAST SUNDAYS ATTENDANCE – 74 – Accepting God's Grace LORD, PROP US UP Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old fellow who always prayed, 'Lord, prop us up on our leanin' side.' After hearing him pray that prayer many times, someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so fervently. He answered, 'Well sir, you see, it's like this, I got an old barn out back. It's been there a long time; it's withstood a lot of weather; it's gone through a lot of storms, and it's stood for many years. It's still standing. But one day I noticed it was leaning to one side a bit. So I went and got some pine poles and propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall. Then I got to thinking about that and how much I was like that old barn. I've been around a long time. I've withstood a lot of life's storms. I've withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time, so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side, 'cause I figure a lot of us get to leaning at times. Sometimes we get to leaning toward anger, leaning toward bitterness leaning toward hatred, leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that we shouldn't. So we need to pray, 'Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord !!!
