Meet the staff of Whiteside
Our Pastor: Scotty Sorrels
Brother Scotty was born in Shelbyville. He attended Flat Creek UMC until he was 8 at which time he and his family moved to Petersburg TN. While there he attended Petersburg UMC. In 1994 after graduating from MTSU with a BS in geology he marries Krista Reed. In 1996 their first daughter, Katy, was born. In 1998 he received his first appointment at Fountain Grove and Mt. Carmel. During that time, in 2002 their second daughter Elizabeth was born. In 2006, Brother Scotty received his appointment with Rover.And now in 2008, he is coming to Whiteside. Bro. Scotty’s wife Krista Reed was born in Shelbyville. In 1976, she moved to Fayetteville where she attended Highland UMC. In 1979 her family moved to Petersburg. In 1989 she met Bro Scotty and started attending Petersburg UMC with him. In 1994 they married. Krista is active with the Girl Scouts, volunteers at the district office, and has started a spouse support program for the spouses of pastors in the Methodist church. She is also currently working on a book for spouses. Katy Sorrells was born in Nashville. She attended Arlington UMC until her father became a pastor. She will be going into 6th grade. She has been an active in the Girl Scouts since she was seven. She was also in choir this past year at Roy Waldron Elementary and plans to continue with choir through middle school. Elizabeth was born in Nashville. She will be going into 1st grade this year at LaVergne Primary. She is the mascot for Katy’s Girl Scout troupe. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up she says, “I don’t know yet. I need more time to think about it.”
