The Little Church That COULD

Do you remember the story "the little engine that could"??? How that little engine kept saying "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can"... When you come visit Whiteside you will notice a buzz in the air. A buzz that hasn't been seen or felt in many years.
The families who are Whiteside United Methodist Church are committed to being a a good neighbor to this community and hope you will join us as we go out on this new journey to help those in need and lend a helping hand.
We now have a couple of new programs that we are proud of... The first being our new youth group. Led by Deanna Tompkins, the youth of Whiteside has made it their mission to help the homeless shelter and the food bank here in Shelbyville by collecting donations. They will also be out visiting our elderly friends in the retirement homes here in Shelbyville.
The Second program is something we call "Saturday Night Jams". This is a jam session for musicians of all types, bands, and choirs. We get together the last Saturday night of the month at 7 pm and have snacks and hear some music played by friends and neighbors. In this time of economic hardship, there is not a better way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday night. It's free, it's fun, It's clean family entertainment.
And then there is the web site...
We officially opened the website on June 10th, 2008. Since that time we have had over 4,000 hits and still going. There will be a celebration here in the near future. As we close in on 6,000 hits we will be saying more about it at that time.
There is plenty going on here at Whiteside.
Just like the little engine...
We know we can accomplish our goals and that all things are possible though Jesus Christ.
Now, we want you to join us as we grow and become involved with our community in the coming months.
