The Mission Statement of Washington Baptist Church

The purpose of this church is to draw us closer to God through praise, prayer, worship, devotion, and service to become committed Christians who are reaching our community with the Gospel, providing Christian service to the community, and being involved in world missions.

Washington Baptist Church was founded in order for Christians to know God and make Him known to others through worship, fellowship, discipleship, missions and ministry.

Statement of Faith

  • A.  We believe that the Scriptures are the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, infallible in their original writing, and our only rule of faith and life (II Timothy 3:15-17).
  • B.  We believe in the Father, and in Jesus Christ, His Son, and in the Holy Spirit, as the one living and true God (John 1:1-14; John 4:24; I Corinithians 2:9-14; I John 4:3; 5:7).
  • C.  We believe that all men are sinful by nature and practice; therefore, all men need a Savior (Romans 3:9-12, 23; 5:12).
  • D  We believe that a God of love has provided and freely offered salvation to everyone through Jesus Christ as the only way of deliverance from sin and its penalty (John 3:16-17; 10:1-9; 14:6).
  • E.  We believe in the renewing and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit as the only source of spiritual life and growth (John, chapters 3, 14 16, and 17).
  • F.  We believe that the ordinances of Baptism and Communion are of divine institution and authority, being given by Christ Himself (Mark 1:9; Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:15-20).
  • G.  We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, His Second Coming to earth, the resurrection of the dead, life everlasting, and the just and righteous judgment of God in the hereafter (I Corinthians 15:3-4; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Daniel 7:10; Revelation 20:11-15).

Our Christian Core Values

WORSHIP:  We seek intimacy with God and live to His glory.
  • Worship is expressions of love, praise and thanksgiving to God.
  • Worship is vital to Christian growth as breathing is to life.
  • Corporate worship is a priority.
  • Personal quiet time develops a vibrant prayer life.
FELLOWSHIP:  We strengthen one another through caring relationships.

  • Everybody is somebody in Christ's body.
  • Small groups provide opportunities for support, concern, personal care, and accountability.
  • Sunday Bible Study is our primary small group structure.
  • Though we are many, we are as one body and what happens to one affects all.
DISCIPLESHIP:  We equip one another to practice the faith.
  • The goal of Christian life is to become like Jesus by allowing Him to live His life through the believer.
  • Behavior is impacted by belief, so Biblical doctrine is important.
  • Discipleship is a process of replacing lies of Satan and the world with the truth of God's Word.
EVANGELISM AND MISSIONS:  We passionately share the Gospel.
  • God's love compels us to reach out to the lost who are destined for hell and eternal separation from God.
  • Programs do not reach people; people reach people.
  • Every believer is expected by God to be a witness.
  • The scope of evangelism is the whole world.
MINISTRY:  We use spiritual gifts and financial resources to meet needs.
  • Every believer has received spiritual gifts from God.
  • When we meet the needs of others, using our gifts, talents, tithes and personalities, we do so as unto the Lord.
  • Love for others is not an emotion but a choice and an action.
