A Little Something About Who We Are
We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word. It contains within its pages, the revelation of WHO He is, WHO We are, and how we can know and relate to Him. As such, it is our guidebook as we seek to live for Him. We believe the power to put that Word into practice and be transformed into the character of Jesus Christ comes from the Holy Spirit's work in our lives.
As Christians, we believe Jesus is our Lord and God's Son, come in human flesh. We believe Jesus came to pay for our sins, mistakes, and failures and to graciously remove their penalty from our lives through His death, burial and resurrection which we share in through baptism and the Lord's Supper. We trust only in Jesus atoning death and resurrection from the dead to deliver us from sin and death and restore our relationship with the Father. We believe in his promise to "be with us always," and we await His victorious and glorious return.
Our congregation is independent (Even though we support missions through The Southern Baptist). This means we have no national, or regional governing boards. Instead, we are led by a group of spiritual leaders called Deacons, Elders or Shepherds. With their eyes fixed upon Jesus as our Lord, and the only true Head of the Church, they lead and care for the congregation. We are committed to being a congregation where people are simply called Christians, thereby identifying with Christ and joining with Christians everywhere as we labor to do the work that Christ has given us. We have no book but the Bible, no head but Christ, no plea but the Gospel!
It's a busy, isolating world we live in today, so we are also committed to being a community church and a church community. We want to connect with, get to know, and serve the people around us. We also want to be a place of meaning, acceptance and connection with each other as we seek to grow in faith and obedience to Christ.
It is our desire to be a warm, inviting place where people will feel comfortable as they explore and grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Like any other group of people, we are a lot of things. We're students, teachers, professionals, and laborers. We're families and friends, married and single, young and the not so young. We are people from many ethnic backgrounds and many parts of this world. More than anything else, though, we're Christians. We seek to live, to know, and serve Jesus Christ. As a result, we enjoy the love, fellowship and sense of family that's only possible when God brings people together.
A FAMILY--We really are a family here at The Lighthouse. We care about one another and enjoy being together! Faith, family and fun is what we're all about.
RELEVANT WORSHIP-- It is our desire to worship in a way that is both God-honoring and life-changing. We are in the midst of seeking ways to make our worship time together an opportunity for everyone, whether young or old, to meet with God in a way that is both meaningful and full of joy. In many ways we are just beginning this journey, but our goal is to humbly seek God's Glorious presence.
BIBLICAL PREACHING--We believe that the Bible is the written, living, Word of God. The Bible is full of insights on how to live, and find purpose and meaning in our lives. "Wisdom that works" on such universal interests as faith, salvation, relationships, communication, work, children, forgiveness, peace, finance, happiness, success, and justice are all addressed in this amazing book. Most importantly, the Bible is an indispensable means of getting to know the heart and love of God as He speaks to us through it. Each week we try to present the truth of God's Word in a simple, creative, and practical way. Sometimes we even succeed!
THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED--If you're looking for a place where you can express your faith and contribute to the Kingdom by using the gifts and talents God has given you, you've come to the right place. We believe that each member of the Church has something to share and contribute. We are seeking to be a family of people who have a common vision, purpose and commitment to work and sacrifice for something that matters, not only for today, but for eternity!
Please join us as we try to share and live out God's message of love, hope, and new beginnings through the amazing grace of Jesus Christ Sunday Morning’s at 11 am for our Worship Services or on Wednesday evening’s at 6pm for a dinner fellowship followed at 7pm with our weekly adventure through Bible Study and Prayer.
