![]() We are committed, with Christ as our guide, to continue to be a welcoming community in East Kilbride, living and sharing God's love with our neighbours. St Mark’s is situated in the new town of East Kilbride south east of Glasgow, and serves the town and surrounding farms and villages. The congregation was founded in 1953 with the church being completed in 1956. We are part of the Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway within the Scottish Episcopal Church which is a member church within the Anglican Communion, ACTS (Action for Churches Together in Scotland). We are a congregation, which has struggled of late, due to the drain on our limited finances of our buildings, but we are looking forward with hope. Currently we are in the middle of a redevelopment project which has seen the selling off of some of our land, and the demolition of all but the church itself. The foundations for the new halls etc have just been laid and will be complete by April 2007. We believe that each and every member of our family has a vital and important role to play in God’s plan for us. A church is not a building or even a group of people coming together on a Sunday morning, but a group of people doing God’s work day by day, supporting and encouraging one another, working together to realise the Kingdom of God in their worship, lives and community. We are very much the family of St Mark’s and share our work, worship, celebrations and sorrows. Our main services are Eucharistic in nature, also know as Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper or Mass. Through this service we recall the last night Christ spent with his disciples before his Passion, death and resurrection. We use a mixture of the best of both traditional and contemporary music and we follow a modern Liturgy 1982 Liturgy of the Scottish Episcopal Church, with congregational participation. We share both the bread and the wine from a common cup. We have lay administration of the chalice and laity are involved in leading intercessions and the readings. We have a small but active Sunday School who occasionally present items during the last service of the month which is particularly family friendly. Service Times: Sunday - 10.30am - Sung Eucharist St Mark's Pride {Sunday School and Crèche} followed by a Healing Service on the first Sunday of the month. Wednesday.- 10.30am - Said Eucharist 7pm Prayers with Compline ![]()
