Lent Begins Wednesday, February 10th. . These forty days are part of the Church’s calendar for our annual “spiritual review “for our lives. This penitential season helps us renew and deepen our faith and love for the Lord Jesus and others. The disciplines of Lent – prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are intended to move the focus of our lives from ourselves to greater commitment to God. May this be a special time of grace for us.
The Stations of the Cross will be held the Fridays of Lent at 7 p.m. at St. Augustine Church beginning February 12th. This devotion is to help us to reflect more intensely on the Lord’s Passion and Death. It is a devotion that usually is scheduled without any other type of prayer. This year, the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction will not accompany the Stations. Adoration of the Eucharist is a separate form of devotion that needs to have a special and individual time and emphasis.
Weekday Mass During Lent In addition to our regular weekly Mass schedule, there will be a Mass at St. Paul Church Monday through Friday, during lent, at 12:15 p.m.
Lenten Confessions: Do you want to let go of patterns of sin, grow, in the life of virtue, and experience a joyful conversion? Let the light of god’s mercy shine on you this Lenten season by going to confession. All churches in the Archdiocese will open for Confessions every Monday during Lent from 6-7pm.
