Congregational needsSome time ago, Fr. Vic Minish, the rector at St. Paul's Anglican Church, in Anniston, Alabama, "floated" a fascinating idea: As that parish struggles to grow and establish itself, it's identified about five real needs: strength, for the rector and vestry, as they do the hard work of parish planting, prayer partners, about 50 people who will regularly and consistently pray for the congregation, people, that is members..., four or five new families and several individuals who will "beef up" their attendance, giving, and service, lay leadership, lay men and women who will bring not only time and effort but a diverse set of ideas to the congregation, and boldness on the part of all our members; the willingness and ability of all our membership to loudly and publicly profess the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Father Minish has suggested that as many of us as can and will, pray for these things for St. Paul's. Now, it occurs to us at Christ Chapel that we need those things, too! Besides, as we all know very well, prayer works. It just may be that we've been relying too much on our technology and our human abilities to do what is essentially a spiritual job. So, we've asked the folks at St. Paul's to pray for us in the same terms, and we hereby ask you, reading this, to pray for the same things, for both St. Paul's in Anniston, Alabama and Christ Chapel, in Fairdealing, Kentucky. So, won't you take a minute, right now, to ask God to intervene in those five areas for both of us, and for the whole EMC? Thank you!
