You are just like Adam and Eve!
You see, they made the same mistake that you just did. All they had to do was follow one rule, and they disobeyed - Just like you did !!
“And the Lord commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:16,17)
“She took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” (Genesis 3:6)
Why did they disobey? For partly the same reason you just did - CURIOSITY! You just had to see what clicking that menu item would reveal. Adam and Eve just had to find out for themselves what could possibly be so bad about eating a little piece of fruit from that tree! The world has never been the same since that day.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)
What else is there that draws people to disobey, just like you did? God mentions three things in this world that cause you to sin.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the father, but is of the world.” (I John 2-15,16)
How did this effect Eve?
LUST OF THE FLESH
“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave to her husband with her; and he did eat.” (Genesis 3:6)
Eve’s flesh is now attracted to the fruit, because she sees that it is “good for food.” There is no limit to what people will do to satisfy the flesh! Whether it is eating, immoral relationships, alcohol, or drugs, people love to satisfy there flesh. What about YOU.
LUST OF THE EYES
“The woman saw…that it was pleasant to the eyes.”
How many people are hopelessly in debt, because something looked too good to pass up, and they bought it? How many people are now separated from their spouse because someone else looked too good to pass by, and they committed adultery? People love to “satisfy the eyes.” What about you?
God says; “ The eye is not satisfied with seeing.” (Ecclesiastes 1:8)
But you probably already knew that from experience, didn’t you?
PRIDE OF LIFE
Eve saw that it was, “a tree to be desired to make one wise.”
Everyone likes to think that they are a little smarter than the next guy. How about you?
Do you think that you are good enough to get into Heaven?
GOD SAYS THAT YOU ARE NOT!!
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
“There is none good but one, that is God.” (Matthew 19:17)
Do you think that there are many ways to Heaven, as long as people are sincere in their religion?
GOD SAYS THERE IS NOT
“ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
“Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
The question is, “WILL YOU REPENT OF YOUR SINS, AND TRUST JESUS CHRIST ALONE AS YOUR SAVIOR.”
“Christ died for our sins.” (I Corinthians 15:3)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
Will you turn from your sin and self-trust and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and put your complete trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross?
