FR.RUEDISUELI'S WEEKLY COLUMN

MARK MY WORDS . . . by: Fr. Ruedisueli
The After Liturgy Refreshment Ministry Teams have just completed a renewal of purpose and intention to provide those refreshments monthly. We were able to find some other volunteers to join the group. They will start up with the Thanksgiving Eve refreshments after our evening Liturgy this Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
More good news: I have been meeting with Marriage
Ministry Team and we had a volunteer recruitment evening and, I am proud to
announce, that we have 4 new couples who will join the Marriage Ministry Team.
Our new Ministry Team Couples are: Jim and Lucy Smith; Scott and Amy
Hostinsky; Tonya and Jonathan Johnson; and Chris and Nicole Hemler. Tom and
Sandy Krell joined the Ministry Team several months ago and brought with them
ideas about the expansion of the program.
In our discussions over the last few months we considered and decided
to introduce a new component to our preparation program that will make our
program a complete Marriage Preparation Program, so we will not be sending our
engaged couples out to other programs. As the revised program is shaping up, we
will use an assessment tool called “PREPARE ~ ENRICH: building strong
marriages”
The Marriage Ministry Team is excited to begin and to take the formation
time in this new direction. We are looking at the possibilities of social interaction
with our engaged couples, community building, etc. Over the past few years, we
have noticed that a good number of couples are staying with the parish following
their weddings and we are attempting to build on this dynamic. Many are
expressing ministries in the parish as well. All very exciting!
As the Church celebrates the Feast of Christ the King, our parish is
poised for our Thanksgiving distribution of food. The separating, packing, moving
all into the Gathering Space and then the set up for getting the food to the people
will all be accomplished over the next 3 days so that all those whom God sends to
us will be cared for. Each will receive Thanksgiving Dinner foods as well as
enough food to last each family for a couple of weeks. Then we turn quickly to
preparing for Christmas. Your donations make all this possible as well as our
Ecumenical partners (Christian and Jewish) and the food providers that exist in
Macomb County. This year we have been the recipients of grants from the
Federal Government that must be used for providing food to those in need. It
really is a great blessing to us.
Carole and I are going North and spending the day with our deer and
turkeys and songbirds. They go great with baloney sandwiches.
Each Thanksgiving, as we were finishing dinner, my Dad would pipe up:
“gee wasn’t the gravy good!” May your gravy be the very best ever!
~ Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday! ~
