Hello to Everyone,
I am writing this e-mail to ask you for prayers for my dad, Salvatore and for Bob/Dale and I. Dad is in Hospice as of today and we will be going to stay with him at his condo to take care of him. We do not have a time table for how long we will be there. The doctors tell us it could be as long as 6 months but the nurses say that it will probably be a much shorter time. As of yesterday when we visited him in the hospital and we all talked with the Hospice representative he was doing very well. He was up in a chair and still able to walk with a walker but they have added esophagus cancer to his many other ailments and he would not be able to withstand any treatment. The doctors recommended Hospice and dad agreed that it was time. He tells us everyday that he has had a good and long life and up until this past 6 months he has been able to withstand all of the health obstacles that he has battled and won. He has been living with leukemia for over 20 years with no treatment and doing very well but I think that with all of his other issues - heart problems, gout, and prostate problems everything has all ganged up on him at once and now we add another cancer. Our prayer is that he be able to live out this last part of his journey here on earth comfortably and peacefully and that Bob and I with the help of the rest of our family that we will all have the strength and courage to give him the care he deserves. I hope to be home for at least one day a week and I will give all of you updates as things progress. While we are at dad's I won't have access to a computer. Love and blessings to all.
