CHAPLAINCY COALITION

"Remembering Their Sacrifices."
"Living In The Freedom They Purchased."

Greetings and "bye your leave," welcome to our website. We are an "unofficial" arm of the Sons Of The American Revolution, whose goal is the enhancement of the Chaplaincy programs
of state societies and local chapters through the sharing of ideas,
encouragement and communication.

Hosted by the Georgia Society Chaplaincy Corps, our coalition is made up of State Chaplains, local Chapter Chaplains and concerned State Officers, who have a sincere desire to make the Chaplain’s task one of more than just saying the Invocation and Benediction at Chapter and State meetings.

There are no dues, no obligations, other than to correspond with us periodically with the wonderful ideas you have for making the Chaplaincy program of the Sons Of The American Revolution a more responsive, supportive arm of the National and State SAR program.

Both our program and Email List are open to every SAR member, especially men, who are now serving or have served, as a Chaplain in the Sons Of The American Revolution. We invite you to join us! Just click on the "Email" button and say, "Add me to the mailing list." Or ....

Free "Chaplain's Training Audio CD"
now available from the Georgia Society.
Please see the"Snapshots" Page for
more information.

To receive a short note via email when changes have been to this website, again, just click on the Email Button to the left with the same message. And thank you for your concern and care ..!!!

Please take a moment to sign our Guest Book,
located at the bottom of this page! Thank you!

The following information is taken from the Chaplaincy Corps of the The Georgia Society of the Sons Of The American Revolution. It is adaptable to any state Chaplaincy program and is offered here as a service to the Chaplaincy Coalition.

Serving The Sons Of The American
Revolution with care, concern and spiritual integrity.

Purpose Of The Chaplaincy Corps
The purpose of the Chaplaincy Corps of the Georgia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution can be summed up in just one word; care! The Chaplains, commissioned by their individual chapters, are called to dedicate themselves to two simple directives and principles; 1. To be the spiritual caretaker of the individual members; 2. To be, by word and action, a link between God and Country and the Georgia Society.

Philosophy Of The Chaplaincy Corps
We believe the significance of the Chaplaincy cannot be overstated; that if a Chapter had only two members, one of them should be commissioned Chaplain. The reason for this thought process is simple; the Georgia Society is not just about “history,” it is about “brotherhood.” The Chaplain’s position is the only staff position purposefully committed to the well being of every Chapter member. His work strengthens the Chapter by helping to connect the members one to another in a genuine atmosphere of care and concern.

Goals Of The Chaplaincy Corps
The aspiration of each individual Chaplain is the under girding of the mission of the Georgia Society. In that capacity, each Chaplain is called upon to follow a pattern of connectionalism designed to heighten awareness of the members one for another. Along with conventional activities, such as leading invocations and benedictions, Chaplains are urged to attend to the spiritual needs of members, when called upon to do so and to be continually in communication with Chapter members and their families in a caring and concerned fashion.

Training Of The Chaplaincy Corps
Training is ongoing with several contacts per month between the State Chaplain and individual Chaplains in the local Chapters. A Training tape and printed material has been shared with each Chaplain, as well. And there’s a constant effort to enhance our services.

Support Of The Chaplain Corps
Our appeal is to every other leader and member of the Georgia Society. As your Chaplain seeks to serve you, please help him in every way possible. Sharing member information on a timely basis and giving him every opportunity to communicate with the members is vital.

PURPOSE OF THE SAR

The purpose of this Society is the patriotic, historical, and educational preservation of the memory of those who, by their services or sacrifices during the war of the American Revolution, achieved the independence of the American people; to unite and promote fellowship among their descendants; to inspire them and the community at large with a more profound reverence for the principles of the government founded by our forefathers; to encourage historical research pertaining to the American Revolution; to acquire and preserve the records of the individual services of the patriots of the war, as well as documents, relics, and landmarks; to celebrate the anniversaries of the prominent events of the war and of the Revolutionary period; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, and to carry out the purposes expressed in the preamble of the Constitution of our country and the injunctions of George Washington in his farewell address to the American people.
