Homepage KNOWLEDGE SHARE ON HEALTH SCIENCE AND NUTRITION This information is given for readers and especially those interested in health issues to use them for their studies or work. THE PURPOSE OF THIS BOOK In the scriptures healing is the restoration to a state of health by physical means or by miracle;- Scripture supports healing by means of medicines and surgical appliances. Local applications of ointments and bandaging of wounds was certainly standard treatment in OT times (Is. 1: 6). Moreover, the use of a plaster made of a cake of figs to be laid upon Hezekiah’s boil was recognized by God’s prophet (38:21). The broken arm of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, was said by the Prophets to require a bandage to bind it (Ezek. 30: 21). Doubtless this bondage included the application of splints, for Egyptian mummies have been found according to A.R. Short, the Bible and Modern medicine, (1953). Splints made of the bark of trees fixed with bandages treated broken bones. Reference is further more made to the healing balm of Gilead. (Jere. 8:22; 46:11; 51:8) A.R. Short believes that this may have been of the nature of frankincense or some similar aromatic juice from a Shrub, containing benzoin, which finds medicinal use today with its pleasant odor and definite antiseptic properties. Apart from these few instance the Bible gives little or no information regarding healing with medicines. This is no wonder, for the introduction of the great array of medicines, such as Penicillin, sulfonamides, tetracycline,insulin and Chloroquine, which are so effective today in healing and prolonging life, have all come on the scene in the past several decades. This book which could also be called, Enjoy good health, is knowledge shares on the subject Health Science and Nutrition. The purpose of writing is simply to share my knowledge. I am not a health worker or a Doctor of medicine, but l am only writing with ideas/knowledge acquired through reading and studying on health problems. 3 John 2 says, “Dear friend, l pray that you may ENJOY GOOD HEALTH and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. My happiness is to see people living and enjoying good health. This is one of the things we need in order to propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and help people to discover their potentials for greater results in our nation, family and church. If people are sick, many a times the causes come from lack of knowledge and we live the work on the laps of only health workers to solve. Since l am not an expect in health related issues, there is the tendency that l may not explain everything well or directly to the reader’s understanding. However, my purpose of bringing out this book is for people to read it, because l want people everywhere to be in good health. Therefore, l pray that my little knowledge l compiled especially from the book, “Where there is No Doctor” by David Werner with Carol Thuman, Jane Maxwell and Andrew Pearson will serve that purpose.
