To My Sister

To My Sister
When I need faith and hope, you always have them
When I need understanding, you always understand
When I need food, you always cook good meals
When I need someone on my side, you are always there
When I need help to fight the fight, you always stand in front
When I need protection from this world, you shield me with your love
When I need someone just to love me, you are always there
When I don’t know what I need, you somehow always do
When I want to just give up, you never ever let me
When I was at my lowest point your love showed me life
When I was to be persecuted you flew to stand beside me
When I was most in need of wisdom God made sure you were there
When I needed love and forgiveness most he sent you to show he cared
We didn’t always see eye to eye, but you never really minded
You stood quite firm with strength I lacked to loss he made you blinded
And when time seemed to pass us by he told you to come find me
And used the mother that you are to track me and remind me
You never let me walk away without a decent fight
Always telling me what’s on your mind even if I didn’t like it
Through you God showed me truth and light, braver than any warrior
To make a difference was your plight, to make life that much better
Most people say we’re night and day, but I must disagree
Even though the fights the same, the different ways we choose
Is what makes us so very different
For what I lack you have enough and you always share it
And weather I want or not you’ll see I always, always get it
So don’t give up your fight for me
I need you more than ever
I may be weaker than I was, but we can win together
For what may seem unwanted now is what I love and cherish
I may not show it very much, but I love you all the more for it
