Have You Opened The Door

HAVE YOU OPENED THE DOOR

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Revelation 3: 20

King James Version

I was still in bed yesterday morning when I heard this loud knock on my front door.  Of course, I knew that I could not open the door not only because it was still dark outside, but also because I wasn’t dressed.  I went into the living room and peeked through the Venetian blinds on the window to see who was there.  I wasn’t even going to say just a minute until I knew who was there.

There wasn’t anybody standing on my porch knocking on my door.  Then I realized what had happened.  Jesus was knocking on the door to my heart so that I would get up and write this devotion.  He has done this several times in the past.  One day, my precious Saviour knocked on the door to my heart to let Him come in to be my Saviour.  Thank God, that I have opened the door of my heart to Him and that He has forgiven me for my sins and put them under His precious blood and that I am saved.

Have you opened the door of your heart to Jesus or have you just accepted Him verbally and intellectually?  Please search your heart and be sure that you have given your heart to Jesus.  We can preach, teach, write, sing in the choir, clean the church, give money to charities and do all kinds of good deeds but if we have never believed in and accepted the saving grace of the Christ of Calvary and asked Him to forgive us for our sins and invited Him into our hearts to be our personal Saviour, we are just as lost as the one who has never said yes to Jesus.

I’m reminded of something that happened many years ago one Sunday morning during the invitation time at church.  The pastor of the church that I was a member of at that time invited people to come to the altar for salvation, to dedicate or rededicate their lives to Jesus or to surrender to the mission field.  The pastor’s wife, who is a very dear friend of mine, had served Jesus for many years but she had never given her heart to Him.  She got up from the pew, walked down the aisle and took her husband’s hand and told him that she was not saved and wanted to invite Jesus into her heart to be her personal Saviour.  O how the angels in Heaven rejoiced that day!

She had taught Sunday School for many years, had sung in the choir, had taught vacation Bible school, had went on several mission trips, had led meetings in the nursing homes, had mentored teenage girls and had served with her husband side by side for many years but she was still lost in her sins and on her way to hell because she had never opened the door to Jesus and let Him into her heart to be her personal Saviour.

She had an intellectual knowledge of Jesus but she didn’t have a personal relationship with Him as her Saviour.  Until we have invited Jesus into our hearts and have a personal relationship with Him, we are not saved.  Do you have an intellectual relationship with Jesus or do you have a personal relationship with Him?  We read in the Bible “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7: 21 – 23).

If you have never opened the door of your heart to Jesus, I urge you; I plead with you to open the door and let Him come in.  He will be the dearest friend you have ever known.  He will never criticize you and He will never leave you.  He will take your hand and walk side by side with you through the bad times as well as the good times.

He will walk before you to guide you in the way you should go and He will walk behind you to protect you from the poisonous darts of satan and the world.  Again, have you opened to door of your heart to Jesus and let Him come in to be your personal Saviour?  You are the only one who can open the door of your heart.  This is the most important decision you will ever make in your life.  Jesus paid an agonizing price, His precious blood, so that you can have your sins forgiven and live with Him in Heaven for all eternity.  Please open the door of your heart to Jesus right now before it is too late!
