The surgeon found that when the shunt was placed in the first surgery, a surgical knife pierced his intestine. This caused sepsis in his body. He had to have 2 inches of his intestines cut. After the surgery he was in a sedated coma, connected to life support and in the ICU for one week. Later he was moved up to a normal room for 3 more weeks. We almost lost our son, and it was truly the most horrific time of our lives. I couldn't have gotten through it without my faith.
One month later, we went to Boston Children's Hospital. We learned that my son does not even have Hydrocephalus, and should have never had the surgery to begin with. We learned that his delays are caused my something called PVL, extra fluid due to loss of brain matter.

They did the upper GI and the nurses had told Amanda all looked good no leaks. and I was like Praise God. They had started feeding him Diabetic Boost thru a tube in his old stomach. They said the reason the intestine had come apart from the new stomach was the blood flow had been cut off and the tissue died so it just pulled away from the staples. Well when the doctor came in and saw them feeding him , he threw a fit . It seems there are leaks. There is a hole in both his old and new stomach. I asked does this mean more surgery?, Amanda said the doctor said maybe not. He is going to wait a week and go thru a scope and have a look around and see if it can be repaired thru the scope. He was finally able to have a bowel movement which is a positive. It means his bowels are working again. They can refuse another surgery but it would mean Donnie would never lose his weight and I would hate to think he went thru all this for nothing.
Last night Amanda asked Donnie if he needed anything . He said more prayers. Then he told her that if something happened to him that he loved her. I refuse to believe that when things finally started going right for these two that God would come and take him. So please continue to pray for Donnie to be healed and made whole and for strength for Amanda.
Feel free to forward this email to your prayer warriors . There is strength in numbers. I know what the power of prayer can do. Lets all join together and stand on the word . The devil must surely be worried to be throwing all this obstacles in the way .
