News & Updates

This Sunday ...

It was a great day Sunday. After church, Sandy Ellis was baptized into Christ. Rejoice! For a photo of Sandy's baptism, click on the Photo albumn tab at the top.

Sunday, April 4, we will have an Easter candy-egg hunt for the children. Also, we will have our regular pot-luck lunch. This will be a great time to invite your friends and family to visit.

New info added to Children's Tab
Under the children's tab we have added two sources of good Bible stories for children in English and Spanish.

Welcome New Members & Visitors

We were blessed, yet again, with more visitors this Sunday.

To accommodate the new members and guests we've had, we have purchased additional chairs and tables. It looks like we might need to do some building expansions in the upcoming weeks, too.

Bible Class News:

This Sunday we continue our new adult Bible study -- ""Fix your eyes on Jesus."." Based on a study of the book of Hebrews, it will use a discussion format. Please read Hebrews 4 to prepare for the class.

New URL for this website

Our old URL is a bit too long and hard to remember. Starting now, you can access this website by placing this URL in your address bar:

The old one will work, too ... so you won't have to change your favorites if you have it stored. However, you can now share this easy-to-remember i.d. with your friends..

Sermon Preview

Sermon title: Making Bitter Waters Sweet

Synopsis: As Isrealites were fleeing Egyptian slavery, they came to their only water source – a poisonous lake named “Marah.” Facing death by thirst, Moses cried out to God and the Lord changed the bad waters to something great. Today, God still cures what poisons your life … bitter waters like guilt, temptation, worry and death. What is it about your life that you would like to change? Come this Sunday and learn how God can give you an abundant life right now.

New Column update

Larry's new column continues in the Colorado Record Newspaper. Entitled "Joyous Living," it is intended to be encouraging and uplifting.

Plainview church at worship

You are always welcome to our congregation!

We are a small church with all the benefits of a small church. Each Sunday we meet for Bible study at 10:00 a.m. Then we worship God and Christ at 11:00 am. Our preacher is Dr. Larry Fitzgerald. Larry is a bi-vocational minister -- preaching for us on Sundays and working with ACU Development Monday-Friday.

Everyone is welcome!

What to expect when you visit
the Plainview Church of Christ

You will notice that our worship is simple. Our service consists of prayer because we believe that God answers our prayers.

Larry's sermons are Christ-centered, Bible-filled, and designed to be understandable, relevant and very encouraging. He often uses humor to make a point.

Anyone desiring to become a Christian is afforded an opportunity to do so at each assembly. However no one will go about the audience singling people out, asking them to stand or urging anyone to go forward. Our services are not designed to embarrass anyone, but rather to praise God by teaching the Bible and singing and praying together.

Contributions are made on Sunday by members of the congregation to support the work of the church and as an act of worship. Visitors may give but are under no obligation to do so.

We observe the Lord’s Supper every Sunday just as the Christians in the Bible did (Acts 20:7). The “Unleavened bread” and the “fruit of the vine” symbolize the body and blood of Jesus (1 Corinthians 10:16).

What many people notice is that we do not use a piano or any musical instruments in our worship because this is what the Christians of the New Testament did (Ephesians 5:19). Everyone is encouraged to sing, regardless of ability.

One thing you will notice is that we have a relaxed, family atmosphere. Some people wear suits ... many do not. Nearly everyone who visits our services tells us that they feel right at home at our little church.
