This page is in memory of my husband Ed Ray. I was given these thoughts from the Lord, on the day of Ed's Homegoing Celebration

My Papa My Papa

What a valiant solider you were through the surgery, hospital stays, tests and finally confinement to your bed the last three week of your life. You never complained, or questioned, only accepted. You have truly taught us all how to live and ultimately how to die. The last few minutes on this earth were carried out in the same style as the last two years had been...
prayerfully and trusting

Like a rose, our love truly began two years ago as a tiny bud and grew and blossomed into something beautiful. You have taught me the true meaning of the words love, compassion and patience. So thank you, dear Papa for the privilidge of being the one to care for you these last two years.

You believed, as I did, that our Father was going to heal you......and He has. You're now breathing freely, running and walking through fields of flowers where the sun never sets, and I know one day again, I'll hear those words...
My Mama, My Mama

The Miracle of Restoration

Life in general does not readily hand out second chances.....but God does. The reason for the second verse is because of one of those second chance miracles only given by God.

My husband and I were divorced in 1992. During the next 8 months, God seemed to be drawing us nearer than we had ever been before. We remarried in 1993 in a lovely church wedding. He did not know he was terminally ill, nor did I....but our loving God did. In November of that same year, Ed was found to have a strange lung ailment which would take his earthly life in 2 years.

We had led a productive life together, but not necessarily a close one. In the two years God gave us, we were together constantly. I attended to his every need and we fell in love as never before. He appreciated so much all the care I was giving him, and I did so with a prayerful heart that God would help me love as he needed to be loved in this final hour of his life. We called each other Mama and Papa. Just sitting together, I would say My Papa My Papa and he would say My Mama My Mama. I would play solitaire at the table with him as he put jigsaw puzzles together, just so we could be together. When he lost his zeal for putting puzzles together, I knew he was getting ready to accept his "going Home time".

Even in his death, God was in control. He sent His beautiful angels to my bedside to awaken me, when it was time. We had 15 glorious minutes together, saying our favorite words to each other. My final words to him were "my papa, I'll see you again in Heaven", and his reply.. "my mama, I'll meet you on the other side".

Some might say that our restoration came a little late, but God is never late and He is never early. We accepted the gift that God gave us and the gift lives on in my heart still today.
