"The quiet hour of prayer is one of the most favorable opportunities he has
in which to speak to us seriously. In quietude and solitude before the face
of God our souls can hear better than at any other time."
- O. Hallesby

"When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow
strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure. "

II Coronicles 6:
41Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. 42O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant.

Deuteronomy 32
9For the LORDíS portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

II Corinthians 6:
16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Jeremiah 12:
10Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. 11They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.

I Corinthians 10:13-14
13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Psalms 19:
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Psalms 111:
1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
3 His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
2 Samuel 23
1Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, 2The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 3The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. 4And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. 5Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

Psalms 33:
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
19 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
20 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
21 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

I Coronicles 29:

You are going through the same thing as everyone else. If it wasnít for what you are going through it would be one of the other things that someone you know is going through.

You are not alone
There is a way

Strength in Prayer

Psalms 118
5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.
6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

Psalms 138
3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

Isaiah 40
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Psalms 37
10 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Proverbs 20
22Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

Isaiah 64
4For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. 5Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.

Isaiah 42
5Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: 6I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 9Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Micah 7
7Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. 8Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. 9I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. 10Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

Potatoes, Eggs and Coffee Beans

Once upon a time a daughter complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn't know how she was going to make it.
She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.
Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot.
He then let them sit and boil, without saying a word to his daughter.
The daughter, moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing. After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them a bowl. He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup.
Turning to her he asked. "Daughter, what do you see?"
"Potatoes, eggs, and coffee," she hastily replied. "Look closer", he said, "and touch the potatoes." She did and noted that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.
Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face.
"Father, what does this mean?" she asked. He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity-- the boiling water. However, each one reacted differently. The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak.
The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard.
However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new. "Which are you," he asked his daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? "
In life, things happen around us, things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is what happens within us. Which one are you?

When do you need God the most?
When there is trouble

Your problem canít see your miracle but you can with your eyes of faith focused on the truths of the word of God.

If you were not in the trial or tribulations that you are in now would you be pressing into God?
Likely not!!
Woul you run to Him when the good times end?

What would your alternative trial be?

God knows where you need the pressure, He presses you in the area that will draw you from the place of most distance from Him.

Seduced...By the Girl Next Door!
By Patrick Morley
Mary divorced Don because he was unfaithful, but she had never been unpleasant about it. If anything she killed him with kindness, which only made him feel even more rotten.
Don was not a scoundrel. He didnít set out to fail. He didnít wake up one day and think, "Well, I wonder what I can do to ruin my life today." Rather, his fall followed on the heels of thousands of small, daily choices he made in his private thoughts over several years.
It all started the day after he and Mary moved into their first home, when he fixed the blinds just right so he could watch the woman next door sunning in her backyard. What began as a single act of curiosity snowballed into a regular habit of lust. He also was a little too huggy-kissy around the office where he led in sales year after year. Don was no Brad Pitt, but he could tell women found him attractive. This flattered his ego, especially since girls had not noticed him at all in high school. He tended to let his eyes fix a moment too long on his female associates. Often Don found himself engaging in sexual fantasies as he would creep along the freeway toward home after work.
Evelyn was an ambitious young woman also in the sales department. She was bright, a quick learner, and was already earning more commissions than most of the men in the office. By her ambition she was eager to learn from Don and by her upbringing she was lonely for love. She had not been hugged enough by her daddy. There was a natural sexual attraction between Don and Evelyn. But for Don this was no more than most men felt toward a physically sensuous woman, which Evelyn certainly was-she had "the look." Neither of them ever acted on the physical attraction by flirting, but the chemistry was there.
Truth #1: The more visible a sin, the easier it is to control; sexual lust is a low-visibility sin.
One of the companyís biggest customers was interested in getting a quote for a privately labeled product. If the numbers worked, it could be one of the biggest sales in the history of the company. Four top sales people were assigned to work out the details, including Evelyn and Don. About two weeks into the project it became clear that the four of them needed to travel to the customerís office to work out kinks in the pricing.
After checking in at their hotel two of them wanted to hit the downtown entertainment district that night, but Don and Evelyn both declined. Don and Evelyn waved goodbye as their associateís cab pulled away from the curb. As they walked inside Donís senses were alert. There was a sense of danger in the air, and he welcomed it. He said: "Iím going to get something to eat. Would you like to join me?"
Truth #2: It actually isnít difficult to fall into sexual temptation; itís easy! Man was made to appreciate beauty. Because of the fall, man often, instead lusts after beauty.
She simply nodded as her eyes fell to the carpet, and they walked to the dining room. The maitre dí seated them in a booth near the back of the restaurant. Don had already made his first mistake, but not his biggest mistake. His biggest mistake was mixing wine with dinner. But his real mistake had been made thousands of choices earlier. The wine lowered both of their inhibitions, which led to exploratory questions. The questions became more and more provocative. Each successive answer signaled interest in going further. By the time Don signed the check he had pulled the noose tight around his own neck. They walked to the elevator, went up to her room, and Don became an adulterer.
Truth #3: It actually isnít that easy for a man to commit sexual sin. You usually have to flirt with sexual temptation a long time beforehand. To some extent, you have to plot it out, making a thousand choices in your thought life, in your company and in your level of vulnerability.
Don woke up the next morning laden with guilt, remorse and shame. The balance of the business trip was extremely awkward. He resolved in his mind that it was a one-time tryst and that he was going to change a number of his ways. Unfortunately, that thought came several years too late. Don was addicted, and he couldnít walk away from his lusty habits.
Evelyn, his correspondent, was equally flustered by the affair, but she was single. She also was highly attracted to Don, and that fed his ego. Less than two weeks later Don found himself at Evelynís apartment during lunch. For the next three months that became their secret rendezvous two or three times a week.
Truth #4: Sex is holy and fulfilling because it mirrors the intimacy of Christ with His church. Sex outside of marriage is hollow and addictive because it promises what it can never deliver-true intimacy.
Meanwhile, Donís wife, Mary, had been frustrated several times because she had been unable to reach Don during lunch, which he usually ate at his desk. He explained by lying to her that he had started taking key customers to lunch from time to time. Meanwhile, it didnít take long for Donís co-workers to add things up. Several of the women in the office felt scandalized. Don naively didnít think anyone had noticed. One day Mary called and reached Susan, one of the women at the office. Mary asked, "Is my husband there?" Susan, who could be vicious as a cornered cat, shot back in a villainís voice, "No, and you may want to look into it a little further."
Mary sat with the phone hanging limp in her hand until the phone companyís you-didnít-hang-it-up-right ringer brought her back to earth. The next day Mary-she couldnít help herself-followed Donís car from the office at lunch. When she saw him go into an apartment, she didnít want to see any more. She sped away sobbing hysterically.
As soon as she arrived home Mary called her mother and spent 10 emotional minutes telling her what she had just seen. "Mom, Iím just so scared. I donít know what to do."
Truth #5: If sex is the deepest expression of love a man can show a woman, then adultery is the deadliest expression of abandonment. You could never hurt your wife worse.
"Honey, I am so, so sorry," her mother began, then followed with 20 questions. After talking out every possible explanation and course of action, they agreed that Mary would tell Don that very evening exactly what had happened step by step, starting with Susanís offhand phone remark.
After the children were in bed Mary asked Don into the den and shut the door. She began trembling and tears streamed along the creases of her face. Don knew he had been caught before Mary said a word. The guilt had been eating away at him. He started crying too. He made it easy for her by asking, "How did you find out?" For the next two hours they covered every angle. Don, a former altar boy, was defrocked. He confessed how it all got started and the hundreds of little sins that led up to the big one.
Mary heard more than she thought she could bear. That night Mary set her course, and she never wavered from it once. She was a woman of faith-strong faith-but she would not be married to an unfaithful husband.
Truth #6: The consequences of sexual sin are unavoidable.
The divorce took six months. The awful pain didnít begin to recede for two years. Then she met Sid. Sid was a lot like Don. After all, she had never found anything wrong with Donís personality, just his character. After countless dinners and picnics with Maryís three children, they both started thinking: This might work.
Four years after Don took Evelyn to be his mistress, Sid took Mary to be his wife.
It took another year or so to work out the details of shared parenting. Eventually the children each had two toothbrushes, two beds-two of everything. The children spent every other weekend with Don, and he could attend all their contests and concerts, which he faithfully did.
One Saturday morning he arrived a few minutes early to pick up the kids for the weekend. Donís children-ages 14, 12 and 9-were sitting at the breakfast table when he knocked on the kitchen door.
Mary and new-husband Sid were scurrying around the kitchen fetching more milk and cooking scrambled eggs. Mary went to the door, swung it open, smiled a genuinely friendly smile, and invited Don to come in for a cup of coffee while the kids finished breakfast.
Don came in and, feeling quite awkward-this was their first time all together in the same room-sat down at one end of the kitchen table. The kids were at the other end of the table, with a couple of empty chairs between him and them. The kids didnít greet him right away because they were arguing about who should get the last piece of toast. It was like he wasnít really even there-like he was a ghost.
Truth #7: Since sex reflects what it means to be made in Godís image-literally tapping into the heart of our personhood-then the consequences of sexual sin can and often will extend beyond the bedroom to every facet of a manís life and being.
Mary intervened and calmed the toast storm. Sid said, "Thanks, honey," gave her a soft kiss on the cheek, then served the kids their eggs and asked if they wanted more milk. Sid tussled Tommyís hair, and Tommy smiled that toothy grin that always melted Don. But today he was flashing it at Sid. Don was melting anyway, but for a different reason. Then Sid turned to get the milk bottle and brushed his arm across Maryís back and gave her a love pat. He poured the milk into Annaís glass, and she said, "Thank you." Sid said, "Youíre welcome, sweetie." Sid turned toward Don and exhorted the children: "OK now, kids, your dadís here. Arenít you going to say hello?"
I cannot believe this is happening to me. Don thought as he turned numb. Here is another man doing what I am supposed to do. Here is another man calling my wife "honey," kissing her face, cooking for my children, tussling my sonís hair, touching my wifeís body, calling my daughter "sweetie," and my children canít seem to get enough of him. Meanwhile, itís like they didnít even see me come in. There must be some mistake!
There had been a mistake, but it was too late to do anything about it now. Don was going to watch another man raise his children and love his wife.
A NOTE FROM PAT TO MEN: Do you know the difference between men and women when it comes to sexual temptation? Women flee it, while men slowly crawl away hoping it will overtake them. If you don't want to sin sexually, don't permit habits that bring you into temptation. Don't put yourself into compromising situations. Don't hire a secretary to whom you feel a physical attraction. Don't stare out the window at your neighbor's wife doing her yard work.
But beyond this, cling to Christ! You are only vulnerable to sexual sin when you fail to abide in Christ. If you abide in Christ, it's just not that easy to stumble into sexual sin.

Liberal or conservative

The mere eagerness to debate this issue is the manifested root of the intent straddling a mask of debate.
We are not separatists in Christ Jesus among ourselves. We are to separate ourselves from sin and the ways and won ton desires of the world. But we are not to bring or create seperational boarders in our own midst.
We clam to be the body of Christ but yet tag ourselves with so many labels. These labels divide us they do not unite us. Think about the word INDIVISIBLE its meaning id different then unity. Unity means oneness, to the quality of being united as one. Indivisible means undivided. To me the body of Christ needs to focus on the indivisible ness of the blood of Jesus and not the unity of our flesh. In the world today the claim of being a Christian could put on us many different pairs of shoes.

(My intentions are not to bring division or appear to be bias by these examples but yet to paint a picture broad enough to let you see the whole picture. Any combination could be aroused from the details of our society)

1. A Hispanic male, Catholic, democrat that is an occasional drinker watches R rated movies. Does not believe in capital punishment or the in filling of the Holy Spirit, reads his Bible, volunteers for mission trips, smokes, goes to church once a week, does not tithe, doesn't do ant witnessing.........

2. A Caucasian female Baptist homosexual minister, tells other about Jesus every day, Doesn't believe in capital punishment, believes the gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit ended in the Bible, tithes her time and believes that giving money to charities and various other places constitutes tithing...........

3. A Dutch male Seventh Day Adventist strict vegetarian, tither, believes in capital punishment Republican, doesn't own a tv, worships on Saturday..........

4. A African American male Full Gospel, Holy Spirit, Tongue talking, devil stomping, anointed, Republican, with one wife, doesn't belive in divorce, believes in Capital punishment, believes homosexuality is a sin, tithes and gives offerings of his finances on an ongoing basis, witnesses to others..........

Where is the unity in these examples. I am not condoning any of the examples to be the one and only way. What I am saying as a member of the body I see it almost impossible to be one in Christ (undivided) if we are continuing on a daily basis to create more division.

We are not getting stronger in our indivisible ness because we are striving to raise ourselves up on a pedestal and not raise up Jesus whom we should be upraising. He must increase and we must decrease. Saints we ain't gonna be going anywhere until we see Him (Jesus) as being increased and lifted up. A big revelation to all would be this. "If you continue to focus on the exaltation of your separation. You will continue to drudge the bowels of division. It is like a sludge, socking and pulling and limiting your movements. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it."
Jesus told us here that we need to look for the narrowness of where we are supposed to be going, the broadness bring destruction.

The answer to the question, "Would Jesus have been a liberal or a conservative?"
Neither Jesus didn't like labels He made it easy
He said, "I set before you life and death, choose life"
Be a life chooser!!!!

Thoughts about the hidden word............

The Hidden Word

Recently through a course of events that happened at my home church we found ourselves in the midst of a large construction project. A large portion of this project is a newly reconstructed/refurbished twelve hundred seat sanctuary.
One Sunday morning during our service our senior pastor announced that he had an idea. The idea was that we as a congregation would each have our own opportunity to write with indelible ink the scripture or scriptures we held most dear to us from the bible. He instructed that then the words would be under our feet when ever we were walking on the floor. So he challenged us to search our hearts and that the opportunity would arise in the weeks to come.
Needless to say this promoted a lot of thinking for me. Gods word is filled with so many awesome passages that it would be near impossible to fulfill the complete mass that had accrued in my heart over the years. As I began to contemplate first one verse would arise and then another. After a few weeks the task of writing them out came upon me. I had settled on two for sure. The first being II Samuel 22:1-4 a passage I had put to memory a few years prior. These words became dear to me in many of the bumps and pot holes I have encountered amidst my Christian walk. The next verse is one that I donít believe we as the body of Christ have yet to come to a full revelation of John3:30. It says, ďHe must increase, we must decreaseĒ. This for me again became a scripture that caused me to focus for less on myself and the things that beset me. I ended by penning three or four more that arose from my memory.
The next morning while reflecting on the choices I had inscribed on that massive tablet we call a sanctuary floor. I was quickened a verse that I now wish I had added to the many that we will stroll upon.
That verse is Psalms 119:9-11 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Those words just keep ringing in my spirit. ďI have hidden in my heartĒ over and over I hear it ďthat I might not sin against theeĒ. Saints just like David wrote hundreds of years ago we today need to hid Gods word in our hearts. In the act of hiding it in our hearts we give ourselves real strength to stand against the wiles of the devil. We need to keep improving the knowledge base we have of the scriptures on a daily basis. Even as I am writing this article I am coming under heavy conviction myself. We can never get enough of the word in us brothers and sisters. We can never be full and needing nothing. Just as we eat three meals each day in the natural we need daily sustenance in the spirit.
