How to Become a Christian

When the question is asked by one seeking salvation as the Phillipian jailor asked, in Acts 16:30, one is likely to get different opinions from people. People change and vary, churches, preachers, and even our feelings change from time to time. It is good to know we can trust God's Word that never changes, Matthew 24:35, that God's Word is the "Sure Word of Prophecy," II Peter 1:19. Paul in Galations 4:30 asked, "...What does the Scripture say...?" Let us now turn to God's Word to see what His word tells one he must do in order to be saved.

First, admit to God that you are a sinner and that you stand guilty before him having broken his law and his will (Romans 3:23 reads, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God")

Second, Realize what the wages of sin is and will be, death (Romans 6:23 reads, "For the wages of sin is death...")

Thirdly, Realize that Christ died for your sin, he took your place and my place when he died on the cross to offer to God the price for our sins (Romans 5:8 reads, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us") The last part of Romans 6:23 reads, "But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Fourthly, Believing you are a sinner and that Christ took your place and died for your sin, you now accept him and what he did for you (Romans 10: 9 - 10 reads, "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Verse 10, "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:13 says, "For Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

(Above Scriptures taken from the New American Standard Version of the Bible, NKJV)

PRAY THE SINNERS PRAYER: "Dear Lord I come to you confessing I am a sinner. You said that Jesus died for me. I now invite Jesus into my heart and ask you to save me. I will believe that you will save me and make me your child today, and I will confess you as my savior now and forever, amen"

If you prayed that prayer and asked the Lord to save you, let us know so we can rejoice with you.

God bless you!!
