The Background:
Children of Hope Center is an interfaith christian school of orphans as well as a non-profit child support & development center designed to save orphans and helpless children lives through combating illiteracy i.e. by giving free education, food, clothes and providing essential medical supplies among HIV/AIDS orphaned children, abandoned, abused, deserted  children in Kaswanga Village, Rusinga Island, Kenya.

The Vision:
Our vision is to fulfill the word of God as written in the book of James 1:27 and John 15:14 "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this, to care for orphans and widows in their afflictions (James 1:27) John 15:14 You are my friends if you do what i command you. The school still in it's infancy currently supports 71 orphans, mostly as a result of  HIV/AIDS in Rusinga Island, Kaswanga village, Kenya.

Rationale for Hope Center:
Children of Hope Center is a strategic platform aimed at building capacity of grassroot communities  to adequately address HIV/AIDS. Taking into account the fact that HIV prevalence rate stands at  41% in Suba District is alarming and the households mostly affected continues to bear the brunt of the pandemic with little support being given inform of direct support and training that could enable them address numerous challenges brought about by the scourge. It has far reaching implications on livelihoods of orphans and their care takers.

In Kaswanga village alone where the project will be implemented has a total of 1,500 total orphans, 835 partial orphans and 476 vulnerable children that needs support. No external input can single handedly address the challenges brought about by HIV/AIDS hence the need of a community-based response to HIV/AIDS that is collaborative, participatory, gender-based, development-focused and community-driven.

Hope Center will provide training, and services to 150 families/households caring for about 450 OVC’s in Kasgwana community for a period of one year inform of purchasing for them goats that could be reared and sold, establishment of a group farm to serve as community-run income-generating activity that provides nutritional supplementation for OVC and surplus income for the project sustainability.
