Michael and Lori Johnson Papua New Guinea and the World Teaching, Consulting, and Bible Translation Software Development
Michael is a former U. S. Navy submarine officer who changed careers to engineering consulting as a defense contractor, and then to data storage industry electronic design and software development, before entering full-time Christian service. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado. He has a certificate in Bible translation from the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguestics. He has written several articles and programs on cryptography. Michael is the senior editor and main translator of the World English Bible, and an ordained minister of the Gospel. Michael’s current assignment is Bible translation software development. He also teaches, preaches, and helps with administrative tasks where appropriate. Lori is a homemaker and teacher. She holds a BA in Kinesiology and has taught in public and private schools. She was the Director of Abstinence Education at a Crisis Pregnancy Center for seven years, leaving behind a successful, ongoing ministry. She speaks, consults, and teaches in Christian schools like the Ukarumpa International School in Papua New Guinea. Michael’s current assignment is writing software to help Bible translators in cooperation with the Wycliffe family of organizations. This software is given away freely to anyone doing Bible translation work. Michael uses the Internet to distribute this software and communicate with Bible translators all over the world, as well as those in his field assignment area of Papua New Guinea. Lori’s main job is taking care of Rachel, but she also teaches at Ukarumpa International School in Papua New Guinea. Links:
