On the morning our daughter was killed, a note she wrote to a friend, and later shared with us, ended with this P.S: Honestly, I want to live for Christ. Its hard and scary, but totally worth it.
Those words were so true for Cassie. I know how hard it can be to share the Lords plan for salvation with friends and, especially, family. But, despite that difficulty, more than just a few times, I caught Cassie trying to share Christ in her firm, but pleasant way. Her idea of furthering Gods Kingdom was to be a loyal friend to Christians and non-Christians alike, and to share what she had found, holding her convictions close, even to death. If Cassie were here, Im sure she'd agree that the boldness it takes to step out of ones' comfort zone doesn't just well up from within. Rather, for it to manifest, it requires prayer and support. The kind of support that comes from Christian youth groups, Bible studies and loving parents.
We love our Cassie and miss her every single day. But, even so, we are so happy that she made her stand, and is surely now in heaven, where she wanted to be. Where we will one day join her.
So, get involved with your local youth group, or other Christian organizations like the International Coalition of Youth for Christ. You must decide which way you will go, to be prepared to make your stand, even if its just being a loyal friend to someone who is discouraged.
