"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you."(Psalm 32:8) Isaiah the prophet, prophesied about Jesus that He would be the Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6) and Jesus told His disciples before His death that He would ask the Father and He will give them another Counselor to be with them forever i. e . The Spirit of Truth. In John Ch.14 and v.26 we read, "But the Counselor, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." Once again we see the remarkable working pattern of the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.When we receive counsel,it's Jesus and the Holy Spirit together who counsels us. It would be quite difficult to recount everything that God speaks to us,counseling us everyday.The pages of this book wouldn't suffice for that.Not a single area of our life has been left untouched ,in terms of counsel received,after the Lord started speaking to us so vividly.The counsels are perfect at all times.He's true to His Word which says that He will instruct,teach,counsel and then watch over us.i.e.if we are willing to submit to Him totally every aspect of our lives. Myriad are the topics on which He counels us.For example,a time came in our life,when Jesus asked us to leave a fellowship where we had been worshipping and ministering to the Lord for aperiod of two and a half years.This was because some people in the congregation were not agreeing and working according to the counsel that came from the Lord which I told them repeatedly.Some of them wouldn't even pray to find out from God whether what I told them was right or wrong.I had to walk out because that was the Masters wish.A few months later I was bitter over some of the ensuing events and asked Jesus several questions. What if I had stayed on?Couldn't things have been better.After all I had sweated it out many nights for that bunch.Now they think I am a traitor and all that I told them was out of my own thinking(for some of the things that I told them have not really happened).Look at how they consider me now.Jesus stopped me short in my tracks and explained how He desired that we just act upon His counsel, not thinking about what really the consequences will be,for it will be always for our good.The results may not be immediately obvious and things may seem to be going awry but He is in total control.Only He knows what will be the best for us.He spoke to us about each and every member of the congregation that we had left behind and asked me to compare my present state with theirs.He pointed out that always one who follows the counsel of the Lord without questioning will always be blessed by the Lord.He said that's why He's called"The Wonderful Counselor",for only He knows which way to guide us in this life that He has given us all the way to eternity. Recently we were praying to Him to solve a longstanding problem for us. He said "My time has not yet come for the healing." I felt hurt,for that particular problem had caused much pain for me and my wife.I said in a sarcastic tone,"Then why blame anyone when this problem and pain recurs,for God Himself is not willing to heal."At once He rebuked me,"Let your words be few."Though Jesus speaks to us regularly,the Holy Spirit reminds us that we are not to take Him for granted.He is an awesome God,the Creator Himself.Perfect in Holiness.I often wonder how we can ever walk with Him with all our shortcomings.But then I remind myself that though we are not worthy to walk with Him,He just had mercy on us and chose us to walk with Him .Remember His words to Moses,"I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."(Exodus 33:19). Our prayer life has been revolutionized by the Lord giving counsel regarding the same.Earlier we got together for worship at six in the morning as a family.Sometimes six would become six thirty or seven too. In the beginning of our spiritual adventures ,enemy attacks were great as we were new (this way) to the enemy and they were new to us. We used to sit upto one thirty,two thirty and once even to five thirty in the morning when it was "warfare royal ".Then things started cooling a bit and we could sleep earlier.But six in the morning was family worship time. "It would be better to worship the Lord a little earlier",the Holy Spirit said one evening as we sat to hear His voice."5 a.m. would be good,pray regarding it and start tomorrow"He said. We were up at five the next morning and for the next few days dozed while singing songs."Pray for my strength"the Holy Spirit counseled and things were set right,for " It's not by might and not by power but by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty".(Zechariah 4:6) 5-6 was family worship time and after that time to read the Word of God and other prayers.Then she sat to worship the Lord in tongues to receive the counsel for the day and it be 7a.m.The servant would arrive at 7 and if my wife couldn't manage getting the whole counsel ,we wouldn't be perfectly satisfied and so also the Lord.So after a couple of months, the Holy Spirit said,"4 a.m. would be best for a morning worship.Sleep at 10 so you'll get atleast 6 hours of good sleep.Rising at 4 a.m. needed more power of the Spirit but since it was on His advice ,it was accomplished easily.So 4 a.m. has been morning worship time for us ever since except when sickness or other unavoidable circumstances prevail. Still there were changes to be brought about by Jesus regarding our evening worship.By 4.30/5 p.m. we would be back from the clinic and also the child from the school.Homework and the child's studies were important,so that got top priority in our evening routine.By 8.30 the children would be eager to eat after a bath and so God was invariably last on our evening schedule.Sometimes the singing would be great,sometimes poor;prayers would be half baked so as to say and sometimes pitiable;on the whole inconsistent to get 100% results. "Let 6.30 be your time for the evening worship"the Holy Spirit said. The initial grumbles faded away as the Lord's will gained importance. The best time for the Lord in the morning and in the evening.How wonderful that was.A radical change from our old schedule,but it meant getting a lot more closer to the Lord and we cannot give it away for anything else. The counsel received from the Lord is somewhat like this each day (morning/evening).First she checks for the Presence of God-The Father,Son and The Holy Spirit to avoid evil spiritual interference in the reception of revelations.Then as she worships,the blood of Jesus is poured into every room of the house.All 4 of us are sheilded with the blood of Jesus and with the shield of His love.The anointing oil is poured on all 4 of us.All 4 of us are cleared of all evil spiritual interferences,house cleared,vehicle cleared,clinic cleared,church cleared,all places of travel on that day cleared.The above things happen everyday.Special counsel varies from day to day.Let me quote a few points in short. 30 July 1999,evening 6.10 pm ------------------------------------ -Study and meditate on the Word of God regularly. -Inner cleansing to be achieved with praise and prayer. 31st July 1999,evening 6.45pm -------------------------------------- -Thank God for everything,children,their problems,whatever the problem. 1st August 1999,morning 6 am ------------------------------------- -Sunday/any other day;learn 1 verse from the Bible. -Thankyou Jesus-A good medicine at all times. -Ask congregation to say-Jesus has been good to me instead of saying God has been good to me while giving testimony for Jesus' name has to be glorified . 1st August 1999,evening 5.45pm --------------------------------------- -Be efficient,healthy,shake off all drowsiness,tiredness through worship and praise of God. The still small voice of The Wonderful Counselor is so lovely to hear and experience as a believer. Jesus said,"My sheep hear my voice,I know them and they follow me."(John 10:27) Also in 1 John 2;27 we read,"As for you,the anointing you received from Him,remains in you,and you do not need anyone to teach you.But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real,not counterfiet-just as it has taught you,remain in Him.
