The India Christian Mission Church is an ANGLICAN traditional in communion with the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches,United States of America.
The ICM Church in India functioned under the International headquarters of the Church stationed in Nuwara Eliya, SRI LANKA right from its inception in 1897 having a local Trust Board in India as appointed by the Directors in Sri Lanka. The Directors felt that it is quite impossible to rule the Church in India from disturbed Sri Lanka and asked the Trust Board in India to formulate a new constitution to be flexible for the local needs. The Trust Board has formed a constitution committee in 1996, drafted a new constitution and submitted the same for approval by the Directors in Sri Lanka. The Directors have UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED and approved the new constitution on 3 rd May 1999 and sent it back to the Revd.N.V.Amrutha Rao, the continuing CHIEF PASTOR and Chairman of the Trust Board for implementation. The joint Council of the Trust Board and the Pastors council has resolved and registered the new constitution with the District Registrar of Societies at ELURU on 22 nd March 2000 AD and became an Independent Autonomous Church in India under the leadership of Rt.Rev.N.V.Amrutha Rao.
The Rt.Revd.N.V.Amrutha Rao, the old pious man has faced tremendous poblems in and around the Church, financial constrains etc.,and hardly could be able to conduct a GENERAL ELECTION throughout the Diocese duing 2004. By the abundant Grace of God, the elected Church Committees, Parish Committees, Central Committee and the Trust Board were formed officially in November, 2004 and functioning well under the able guidence and leadership of Bishop N.V. Amrutha Rao.
A young , energetic , eloquent speaker, Social Worker,writer and a good church administrator, a priest working under the Catholicate of the East ( Syrian Orthodox Church ), The Rev.Fr.Dr.N.JOHN SD Raju was requested by the Trust Board to come and join with the ICM Church to be the second line of leadership. Fortunately, he has accepted and he was made Suffragan Bishop on 12 th February 2005 witnessed by thousands of faithful at Eluru.
AFFILIATIONS / COMMUNION
The ICM Church enjoys its full membership in the Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches right from its inception in 1946 and Managing Committee member of the Andhra Pradesh Federation of Churches ( a federation of Roman Catholic and Non-Roman Catholic Bishops of the state ).
The ICM Church has entered in to the HOLY Apostolic Succession through Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, USA and The Most Revd.Dr.Duraisingh James, THE ARCH BISHOP FOR THE PROVINCE OF INDIA FOR - CEEC along with the other Anglican Bishops in India CONSECRATED the Bishops of the ICM Church in 2004 and 2005.
Now there are 42 fullpledged Parishes, 26 Primary and 02 Secondary Schools (Telugu Medium ) which are recognised and aided (for the salaries of the staff ) by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. There are one English Medium School and one Tailoring school. St.Andrews Theological College and Seminary was started in 2006.
Prior to the year 2000 AD, we have recieved aid from the International headquarters of the Church in Sri Lanka. But it was stopped and we are trying to stand on our own. We could be able to log on to some extent. But we still need financial and material assistence for the full pledged status of the church. Hence, we humbly appeal the World Church Bodies and philonthropists to come farward to assist this needy Church to re-build the Church buildings which are dated 1 st decade of 20 th century and the school buildings. The Children of the rural schools are also to be assisted. We have 55 acres of land in which the oldest mango garden is existed. We appeal to the Philonthropists to assist us to make the garden for cultivation by putting 04 bore wells, for obtaining the electricity, for purchase of 20 HP motors, fixation of the drip-irregation system. We have already done some spade work with the kind assistence of the Methodist Church in England at the instance of late lamented Revd.S.M.Jacob. We need more assistence at the tune of atleast US $ 25,000. Then it yields about Rs.5 lakhs which will be a boon for the Church to run sufficiently and self supportedly.
