Biblical worldview

No doubt you have heard this termed used and you may wonder what it means. Everyone has a particular way of viewing the world. most people don't really think about it or spend time trying to fit everything into a set system of beliefs but even if they don't make the effort they still have a worldview by default.  Religious people tend to have a view of the world that is filtered through a set of doctrines that they have been taught. That can be good or bad depending on how much of thier doctrine is based in reality. The same goes for secular people. those who hold no particular preference for any religious faith can have a set of beliefs that are based on truth or on mis-information. A Biblical worldview is simply a challenge to those who consider themselves Christians to evaluate if what they believe is really based on the Bible and the teachings of Jesus and the apostles or if their beliefs are more of a hodge podge collection of opinions from their peers and their surrounding culture. In western countries such as America and Europe we live in a time that Philosophy teachers call Post-Modernism. Think about it like this. Put everything you believe about everything on individual yellow post-it notes. go ahead and do it. what you believe about politics, religion, sex, marriage, morals, justice, art, origin of life etc... Now try to see something that is consistent about all these notes and then ask yourself if any of these beliefs may actually contradict each other.  Ask others to look and see if they can find contradictions. Post modernism is basically a Post-it note way of thinking about life. it lacks a consistent pattern, it has contradictions and it is disorganized and spread out all over the place. A Biblical worldview thinks critically about the issues of life and filters it through an understanding of the world according to the Bible. people accuse the Bible of having contradictions but there is no doctrine or teachings that are opposed to each other. people have often predicted the Bible would disappear from the world and we would become a more secular culture when in fact people who have made those claims have lived and died and the 3500 year old book still lives on.  IF you would like to read more about issues facing our world from Biblical perspective than I would recommend the following resources.
