About
February 2001, the GYM class was formed. This adult class included our youngest attendee of 12 and our oldest of 80 plus. The name GYM class was given us since we began meeting in the old gym of Mustang UMC. Large fans in the summer tried to cool us and parka's warmed us in the winter. But in all things there has always been plenty of coffee and food.
Our feast where not limited to donuts. Everything from Quiche, homemade breads, eggs, fruit, to Georgia grits are served on any given weekend. We are not shy when it comes to eating. At least once each quarter we set a date to eat out as a group. These dinners have been catered, pot luck and even dining at a restaurant. These meals are open to all members of ones family. Babies to mother-in-laws may be in attendance.
The class format is organized discussions on Biblical topics and events. As passages are read, instructor lead questions challenge us to reflect, grow, study and affirm our faith. Differences of opinion are respected but Biblical proof wins out. The class name, The GYM Class is an acronym for God, You & Me.
Each week is begun with reviewing of our class prayer list and ends with a prayer. Many in the class sing in the choir or usher. So it is common for people to leave early.
Currently we have approximately 28-active members. Most weekends we will have around 20 to 22 members in class along with a guest or two.
So if you like food, coffee and have a desire to be challenged please come and join us. We are located in the main building near the old kitchen. Or follow your nose to good eats...
We would love to have you visit.
