Learn The Value Of Silence
Once, a bear and a fox, who were each hunting for food, encountered each other on the trail. The bear said: "You will not get any of my game." And began to growl and roar at the fox. But the fox said nothing and slipped away. Soon the fox had his supper but the bear was still roaring. The fox thought to himself, "If I had been growling and roaring, I would have never heard this rabbit or be eating my meal." Silence is the best companion of the hunter.
Native American Fable.
Grandma says: There is a time for silence in our lives.
Therefore the prudent man keeps quiet in such times, for the times are evil.
Amos 5:13
Saying nothing...sometimes says the most.
Emily Dickinson
True silence is the rest of the mind; it is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment.
William Penn
Silence is the unbearable repartee.
G. K. Chesterton
A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren't we like that wise old bird?
Edward Hersey Richards
Selfishness
Grandma says: The worst fish is the "selfish."
An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment. – Proverbs 18:1
It is not because the truth is too difficult to see that we make mistakes... we make mistakes because the easiest and most comfortable course for us is to seek insight where it accords with our emotions – especially selfish ones.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn
